What is up with 4-4?

Posted by

I wonder what the odds are on a team having two consecutive 4-4 results? Well whatever they are, Liverpool did it. For the neutrals this was another very entertaining game, however for us reds we are gutted but relieved to fetch a point in the dying seconds.

We totally dominated the game and deserved much more than that but football can be very cruel and we were punished for 4 defensive errors that could have been avoided.
Arsenal started off with a goal in the first half from Arshavin but early in the second half Torres tied up the game and 7 minutes later Benayoun put us ahead.

Unfortunately the lead did not last very long, Arshavin tied it again in the 67th minute before he put Arsenal ahead again at 3-2 in the 70th minute.

A quick response from Torres tied the game up again until Arshavin scored his fourth goal in the 90th minute. Benayoun saved the point in the dying seconds of injury time to put the final score at 4-4.

Rafa himself admitted that the defensive errors cost us the 2 points. “We made too many mistakes, but it’s also positive because the team showed character to the last minute. We have a point against a good team and we are top. United are in the driving seat so we have to keep pushing until the last game. Arsenal have to play United… it’s football, you never know.”

We are now top on goal difference however if United tie or win tomorrow they move 3 points ahead of us with a game in hand. All we can do now is hope that our old buddy Peter Crouch can produce some magic.

  1. WE HAVE TO STAY POSITIVE !!!!
We are still not out of the title race yet.. mathematically…

AS I’ve mentioned… we just need manure to drop points in 2 games… ManC and Arsenal in May for them are potential banana skins.
That would leave us 2 points behind scum going into the last game on 24th May 2009.

Scum away to a Hull side fighting for Premiership survival is just ripe for a blockbuster ending. Again if they drop points, we are in it with a chance…

PROVIDED WE WIN ALL OUR REMAINING 5 matches >>> Hull (a), Newcastle (h), West Ham (a), West Brom (a) and Tottenham (h)

IT AIN’T OVER YET folks !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. WOW!!! My heart can’t take this… Off to the hossie for a new one… So much for being a boring tactical team… Time for old Whiskey-nose to eat his words!!!
