Many reds have great memories of Gary McAllister, whether it be his penalty against Barcelona or that magnificent free-kick in the Merseyside derby everyone has something to look back on when remembering the midfielders short time at the club. Well a source close to Empire of the Kop has told us that Garry McAllister is on his way back to Anfield.
“After sharing drinks after a game of golf Gary told me he was in the first stages of talks with Rafa over a midfield coaching role” claimed the source. Talks are only in the early stages, with the source telling us ” Nothing is confirmed but talks have been positive”.
All I can say is I hope this is true, with the possible return of Kenny Dalglish and the homecoming of Sammy Lee last season we will have a perfect backroom staff if Gary McAllister does return to the Anfield dugout. His time as a manager was short-lived, with his most notable position being at Championship outfit Coventry. Under the wing of Rafa however I do expect Gary to learn some more of the tricks of the trade and progress onto being a great manager. You never know, maybe one day when Rafa decides to put down his notepad we may see Gary take over at the helm?
