Ferguson claims no more signings for United

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that Manchester United will make no more signings in this transfer window despite being linked with Athletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero and French winger Frank Ribery.

In a press conference this afternoon the Manchester United boss claimed “No more signings” would be made by the current Premier League champions despite the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to high-spending Real Madrid for £80m and Carlos Tevez departing to rivals Manchester City, a deal which should be wrapped up in coming days.

Most Liverpool fans will wonder if they can really trust the veteran manager after the mind games with Rafael Benitez which dominated the second half of last season. United have only signed Wigan winger Antonio Valencia, former Liverpool and Newcastle frontman Michael Owen and an unknown French prospect.

Although Ferguson is not normally one to go back on his word I can see this comment being taken back by Sir Alex in the future as he makes another big signing before the start of the next league campaign. However, if he does stick to his word and no more signings are made then he may have just gave us an extra boost in are title bid as United look considerably weaker than at the start of this years summer transfer window.
