RIP Sir Bobby Robson (1933 – 2009)

Sad news for football today, former England Manager Sir Bobby Robson passed away at the age of 76. He died peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer

As a player he played with Fulham & West Brom but it was it was as a manager that he would be remembered the most.
He was Ipswich Town manager from 1969 to 1982 winning the F.A. Cup & UEFA Cup and then as the coach of England he lead the 3 lions to the 1990 World Cup Semi-Finals.

After England he had brief stints with some of the Europe’s top clubs including Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon, Porto & Barcelona  and finally returned to England to end his coaching career at Newcastle.

Many Red players played under Robson when they featured for England and our famous Anfield Rap even mentions him recommending that Steve McMahon play for the lions.

Well Steve McMahon sure can rap
It’s about time he had an England cap
So come on Bobby Robson, he’s the man
’cause if anyone can, Macca can
Macca-can… Macca-can… Macca-can… Macca-can…

YNWA

RIP Bobby
