Statement from Shankly’s Granddaugther

Posted by

Spirit of Shankly just issued the following statement from Karen Gill, she is Bill Shankly’s granddaughter.

This year is a very important year. It’s exactly half a century since my granddad came to Anfield and the massive success story of Liverpool Football Club began. It’s been 50 years of hard work, determination, success and even of tragedy, but I feel that at the present time our club is at an all time low and it’s time to take action and turn things around. So I would like to add my voice to the thousands of others who have decided to say “NO” to Hicks and Gillett, “No” to their lies, “No” to their debts and “No” to their utter incompetence. Let’s take a leaf out of Michael Shields’ book and carry on fighting , never giving up until our goal has been achieved. In doing so we are ensuring that the legend of Liverpool Football Club and the spirit of my granddad live on.

  1. A statement of this strength from such an important family in this clubs history says everything about the depths at which we find our club. The Americans must leave our club NOW. YNWA.

  2. Im sorry for not seeing this as everyone else does but as far as i can see the club is heading in the right direction so i say we just sit back and watch lfc flourish with the new chief exec.

  3. Another statement on the eve of an important match to unsettle the players, manager and staff. I’m not really interested in anything this woman has got to say – she is not Shankly and wouldn’t have the first clue about running a football club.

This is just another bullet for the pundits and media to shoot us with. It’s bad enough I have to take stick off mancs at work all day, but to have to listen to a minority of whingers constantly undermining our club is becoming unbearable.

Cough up the money to buy the club or shut up and support the team. The players don’t want to be reading about ‘protests’ before every single match.

And Karen, the spirit of your granddad lives on because of his devotion and achievements with the club. Don’t get involved in this childish nonsense – it is really rather embarrassing and will do nothing but degrade your granddad’s name.

For tomorrow, I would like to wish Rafa, his staff and the team well. It may be rather controversial but I would also like to wish Gillett and Hicks my support and hope they can prove over the next few years that they can, once again, increase the success of our great club. I’d like to think that, in a few years, we will all look back and see a long term plan that was successful at bringing trophies to LFC.

I may be proved right and I may be proved wrong, but ultimately, I have no control over who owns the club. I only know one thing – if I give them my support and they fail, they have failed all by themselves. If I constantly criticise them, I have to take part of the blame when it all goes wrong.

  4. With all respects ,though situation is not very encouraging but what has she gotta say here…??? every club is in debts, liverpool is subjected to too much negativity, but media ,by own faithfuls and what can u expect from our rivals….YNWA

  5. The two top comments portray my sentiments entirely. You lfc fans need to get behind lfc and stop knocking negetive vibes around about them. YNWA
