I want the 80’s to come back!

Yeah, I know that’s a very common phrase for Red fans, but I’m not looking at it only as bring us back the trophies we need, but the rest of the league would be better. In the spirit of full disclosure, I’m not old enough to remember most of the 80’s (I’m only 30), and living in a small town like I did at the time, we didn’t get the old first division on tv so, most of my watching of the old sides have been on Youtube.

Think about it this way, if we went back to the 80’s:

Chelsea would be horrible.
John Terry would be cheating on his primary school girlfriend with some other guy’s girl.
Ashley Cole would be trying to figure out how to take pictures.
Drogba would be flopping in his backyard.

Manchester United would be crap.
Wayne Rooney would be a young Shrek
Fergie would be a loud mouth young manager with a Euro Cup win. Kinda like mourinho
Edwin Vander Saar would just be playing on someone’s youth team (yeah he’s old)

Manchester City would be crap. They would be changing managers, and have annoying fans. Wait, nothings changed.

Everton would still be annoying, but Andy Gray would have hair.

Norwich would be up in the EPL.
Let’s be honest, I’d rather have them now, than Bolton, or Pompey, or heck Blackburn. There’s just something exciting to me about them. Maybe it’s because they have history and Bolton is just crap.

Oh and the last thing that would be great about the 80’s coming back.
MK Dons wouldn’t exist. Well they’d be the old Wimbledon, but that’s better than that junk of a club.

But then again Leeds would be up, and Oxford would be too, so you take the good with the bad. I know, I’m going to get some stick for the constant looking into the past on my blogs, but my undergraduate degree is in European History. So I can get away with it.

  1. Stephen you have a right for your opinion and to dream. I too want to become a millionaire but that too is not going to happen. The 80’s was an era where Liverpool were totally and unconditionally domaninant…..sadly, that era will never return not now, and not in the future. The 80’s was our decade, the 90’s wad Utd’s, as soon as the new millenium kicked in it was more of who has more money to spend!

  2. I wouldn’t mind having Leeds up again. That fixture is always going to be entertaining. Beats another boring tie with half the teams in the league now. No disrespect to them but they know who they are and so do we.
