Could Wigan be another three points for LFC?

Ok, so I’m jumping the shark here and nothing in football is a given. (Well outside of Bolton being boring). But it’s one of those matches coming up where I can see the Red’s getting the full points. Let us be honest, how many of Wigan’s player could even sniff the first team of Liverpool? Maybe two, Charles N’Zogbia and Oliver Kapo, but that would be as bench players.

So that being said, as a fan I’m expecting more than a tie, or no goals. I want at least TWO GOALS. One from Captain Amazing Stevie Gerrard and Fernando Torres. I think at least with their pace and skill it should be no issue for them. And Torres at even 40% match fitness is better than any player they have.

Yes, I do want more than that goal wise, but I’m not a greedy person per say. That and I don’t have anything against Wigan, I just find them boring. I mean, really they just exist, that’s it.

Am I getting ahead of myself? Yes. And i know there’s a week until the next match, but be honest this is all we should be thinking about. Plus with no other games mid week, Torres can get match fit. Though we don’t need him to be all the way back until Lille.

Rafa could put out the U-20’s for the Pompey match and we’d still win. Ok, I’ll go when step further and say, you could put the old boys out there, and we’d still win. But LFC’s Legends now > Pompey’s players now. (yes I’m biased)

  1. Don’t forget 3 things:
    1. Torres has a Spain friendly in mid-week
    2. Wigan beat Chelsea earlier in the season, TWO-nil
    3. We lost to Pompey, TWO-nil too

  2. As the year has proved to us…nothing is impossible..the last thing we can afford is under-estimating opponents whoever they are..
    and to add to “rc”

    1. We drew Wolves
    2. We didn’t exactly dominate Wigan last time either to say what you are saying..

We’ve had valid games even without El Nino, although I’d want him in the team everyday.
When Wigan beat Chelsea, it was a different ballgame. They seem to have lost their way and we seem to be grafting results.
Pompey was such a low-point in the Liverpool season we not only hit rock bottom we even found natural gas beneath it.
I agree with Kaustav. At this stage I’d take 3 points whichever way we obtain them, be it flowing play, defending, or sheer luck!
I was only wondering why we are playing monday when there is the Europa League home game with Lille the following thursday. Even playing sunday would have given us another day’s rest and game preparation, plus 24 hours to recover any knocks our lads will most certainly pick up against Wigan!
