Yesterday’s match against Lille wasn’t as magical as the Monday clash earlier this week, but Liverpool won 3-0 (3-1 agg) and made it into the next round of Europe League. Or better said: it was our super-duo, Steven Gerrard & Fernando Torres, who blasted the team into the next round. Stevie-G.-Nando-Force still works.

Diego Maradona, who was watching the game from the stands, might get a bit jealous his wasn’t Spanish! I was! Who wouldn’t? This boy is increíble, isn’t he? He scores, he gets injured, has to pause, he comes back and keeps on scoring as if he were just on vacation or something. Snow, sun, rain – he scores. Fully fit or not – he scores.

After yesterday’s match Rafa Benitez spoke of Torres still not being fully fit – “he is working hard with the physios but he can still improve.” Well, I cannot even imagine what is going to happen on the pitch when he’s 100% fit.

Anyway, yesterday the Spaniard netted the ball twice again. Two chances could be possibly turned into goals but the bad luck keeps on sticking to his shoes like an old chewing gum. Steven Gerrard’s early goal, which was a penalty created by Lucas, gave the team a well needed boost and a small dose of calmness. It was good to see him in good shape again. Although Lille weren’t playing as well as the week before there were a few dangerous actions just like the one after the half.Hour when Eden Hazard burst through the red defence and tried to flick the ball over Pepe Reina. In the last twenty minutes of the encounter Lille were quite dominating and dangerous but the third “Spanish” goal made their dreams of a win vanish. Pop. Bang. Lovely.

Though it was little disappointment that Liverpool wasn’t able to kill that game off after the early goal but generally it was a solid performance with a good teamwork. Summing up i do have to mention Lucas who was outstanding and made a very good job. Glen Johnson was fighting like a lion; Dirk Kuyt was hardworking as usual with a good chance for scoring as well. Even if it wasn’t the match of their lives, the Reds played like a team, played solid and won.

Mission completed. For now.
