El clasico

Posted by

The Sunday clash between the eternal rivals, Manchester United and Liverpool FC, which ended with a 2:1 defeat for the visitors, was an el clasico for many reasons. And not because the Reds lost!

So let’s make a small list of the classics:

–       Torres scored for Liverpool (we got used to it but we do not have enough of it!)

–       … and he did it in great style (as usual)

–       Masch fouled stupidly (again …)

–       … and for this reason Manchester was given a penalty which Rooney took and scored (yeah, yeah … we’ve seen that before …)

–       Howard Webb was so Pro-United, that even a blind could see that

–       Howard Webb gave decisions for the benefit of United

–       Howard Webb did not make any decisions in Liverpool’s favour

–       Yossi Benayoun came on to late

–       some bad luck for Torres … (sounds familiar to me …)

–       … and lots of bad luck for the team

–       Alex Ferguson was even more arrogant than usual (yeah, that is truly possible kids!).

Even if Liverpool lost the match against United, it doesn’t mean that the Reds were playing bad. There was a good teamwork, a good play, the lads pushed forward and with a bit more of good luck it could  and would be a draw. Manchester had more ball possession, more shots on target and, finally, scored more goals but Pepe’s penalty save was outstanding! It was, wasn’t it? We definitely can be proud of our Spanish keeper.

We’ve lost, that’s painful, but there’s still one reason we can be content with: we got nobody injured! I hope so …

YNWA you Reds.

  1. Good display, but not the final 20 minutes. Kuyt and Maxi needed earlier subs, especially Maxi after the head clash. And there were Babel and Benayoun who should’ve come in sooner.

If I were to use Aqua, it would’ve been to sub Lucas or Masch, not Kuyt. There were few minutes when we were with too many central midfielders and no right wing, and those long balls from Agger became ineffective.

Should’ve gone home with a point. But thanks anyway, at least it was a good effort. And I loved to see those nice foot works and through balls from Gerrard.

    YNWA!

  2. Can someone explain to me why Benayoun started on the bench? He is the only player that has consistently cared this season, never seems to get frustrated, and just focuses on the game. I support Rafa but his XIs can sometimes be mind boggling.

  3. Okay, I won’t say the team has played bad, in the first half we scored and suffered a penalti that didn’t exist, that clearly made the team less confident. In the second half we were a little bit better, but they had their chances and scored. We had the chance to draw, but we didn’t. Webb was wearing the Man United shirt.
But today I’m gonna blame Rafa! He doesn’t learn anything! He changes the team in the end of the game, what does he think? They are ninjas and will score in 20 seconds?
I hope Aston Villa, Tottenham and City get screwed in the next games. Because if they dont, we’re gonna be in more troubles.
