Birmingham vs Liverpool (Sunday)

Posted by

Our Easter Sunday clash takes us down to the St. Andrews, we need all three points to keep our fourth place hopes alive. Birmingham are currently in good form as they were able to tie Arsenal in the dying minutes of the game last weekend, we not underestimate them at all.

When Brum visited Anfield earlier this season they held us to a 2-2 draw and we struggled to grab that precious point from them, we should not allow this to happen tomorrow. We need to play with the same intensity as we played against Sunderland and for the first few minutes in Portugal, we can not take our foot off the pedal but Attack, Attack & Attack.

Fabio Aurelio, Martin Kelly, Martin Skrtel and Alberto Aquilani are still injured while Maxi Rodriguez will return after he was cup-tied against Benfica.

I expect Rafa to pick the same lineup that played against Sunderland, I believe that he will play both Babel & Insua as both of them will be suspended from next week’s clash against Benfica. Of course Maxi will also play as he is cup-tied in the Europa League, this will leave Yossi Benayoun who I think will again start on the bench as he is not back to his very best yet.

Probable line up:
Reina, Johnson, Carra, Agger, Insua, Mascherano, Kuyt, Babel, Maxi, Gerrard, Torres

Kick off is at 3PM

  1. Antoine. This will be a tough match. It’s never easy at St.Andrew’s! A draw at this stage is the bare minimum but a win would put bring our odds to make 4th spot ours that little bit closer.
We have no alternative but to go for an attacking squad. Good luck Reds!

  2. Agree, agree and agree. We MUST attack and outwork them from the first minute of play. I feel that our back four (if Antoine is right about the team tomorrow) are prepared and must rise to the challenge if we push forward and leave ourselves vulnerable to the counter-attack. We have the best keeper as we all know so we must ask Pepe and the lads to expect the pressure and deal with it in order for us to PUSH FORWARD and attempt to dictate play (even at ST. Andrews). It is the prudent gamble for me with the momentum we must generate for the run in.

  3. Brian. The Manager and the lads know that if they win all their remaining matches they will make 4th spot, because the others WILL drop points as their run is tougher than ours.
