Quick note on our defeat last night

Posted by

I was exhausted last night, like the players I too had a long journey and was struggling to stay awake during the game. I want to write  a quick note this morning so no one thinks that I am like one of those Man Utd supporters who goes into hiding after a loss.

The game was not a classic, we did not spark any fireworks and to be honest I never expected any after that long trip. Forlan’s goal was scrappy, Carragher and Reina should have taken care of it however I must commend both of them for coming up big later in the game.

The whole two extra referrees thing has a lot to be desired, now instead of having four blind referrees we have six. Yossi’s legitimate goal was disallowed while Soto got a yellow for protesting after he was studded in the back.

As I Tweeted already : We Lost to Lille and Benfica away then we trashed them at Anfield, I believe we can score at least two against Atletico. Their defence looks weaker than both Lille’s and Benfica’s, yes they will have Sergio Aguerro but I do not think it will be a problem.

  1. Yeah I’m unsure why everyone has dissapeared after this result, some more of our fickle fans are banging on about a terrible performance, not sure what these people want from an away tie. Yes it would have been great to nip this in the bud and come back to Anfield with a 2 goal lead, but we played relativly well under the circumstances.

Like you said it’s only half time, look what happened at half time in Istanbul! But it should be a great game back at Anfield, recently the atmosphere at the games has been severley lacking but a good old fashioned Euroean semi in Liverpool should bring the best out of the crowd who attend, fingers crossed I can get to this!

As the linesman was clearly ball watching with Yossi’s goal it was no suprise it was deemed offside, it really annoys me as it clearly shows that there should be four linesmen set up at least per game too many decisions are going for/against clubs because the linesman is the other end of the pitch and can’t make a correct judgement call. I’m still undecided if I like the extra officials behind the goal line as it seems there authority will always be undermined by the ref or linesman, it’s like they are referees aprentice! But I has to say the ref wasn’t toooooo bad last night nice to see a ref with balls and not falling to the home crowd at every call! But yes still confused by Soto’s booking! Just wish he’d had covered the man at there goal wonder how that could have changed the tie!

Take them to Anfield and we’ll smash these shower of shites!

  2. Cannot really comment on last nights game. It was a very poor performance with not a single shot at goal. I must admit that the long trip did not help but would have expected much better…..after all it WAS a Semi Final game.

Trust for a much improved performance from the boys hoping to eventually lift the cup in May….Y.N.W.A.
