The Times reports Kenny’s wish to become manager

Posted by

Tony Barrett from the Times is confirming what I mentioned yesterday that Kenny Dalglish wants the manager position, here is the full story.

The tone that Barrett puts on the story sounds quite positive and I hope that the board will have a change a heart and beg Kenny Dalglish to take over.

From what I heard there was a very long meeting this afternoon between Purslow and Kenny. Also to note that many other sites are already reporting rumours that Hodgson is the most likely candidate for the manager position. The Mirror is also reporting that the club will offer the position to Roy Hodgson in the next 48 hours which also supports the story I reported yesterday.

Another interesting development today was that Henry Winter out of the blue tweeted the following:

“I’ve just helped #Kenny Dalglish write a book about his love affair with #Liverpool and I know he would love to manage LFC again.

Dalglish so passionate about #Liverpool he’d help in any way. If candidates 2 succeed Rafa not deemed good enough I’m sure Kenny would do it.”

I reported yesterday not to sensationalise and get hits to my site as some accused me. I really wish I did not have to report the story but I got it from a very reliable source and had to share it to show what our club has come down to.

If Roy Hodgson does become the manager I will really gutted for Kenny but as I said before I will support Hodgson and I would ask that all Liverpool supporters do the same.

  1. Good, got to be honest lads I’m not too sure about hodgson. I’m a bit worried if he takes over. Obviously I hope I’m wrong and whoever takes over will get my backing as a fan. But like I have said on this site , I think we should name kenny as caretaker boss until new owners come in. What do u think?

  2. Kenny is a club legend-arguably Liverpools greatest ever player. He is a manager who guided this club to league glory-he does not have a single blemish on his Liverpool record. HOWEVER I just think he has been out of management for far too long to take up the position again. Football has evolved dramatically since his last stint and I just fear he would fail this time around. If Liverpool offer the job to Hodgson I sincerley hope the Fulham board do all they possibly can to convince him to stay- he is a manager making an average side look good. He is not Liverpool material. Niether is Sven. Yes we are limited with options, I understand that, but has the club not considered up and coming managers like Flores? Has Lippi even oficially ruled himself out?

  3. the reports stating hodgeson will be formally asked to manage LFC in no way backs up the kenny story though. i have thought and the bookies had installed hodgeson as a massive favourite the day rafa was asked to leave way back last week, independent of this story. in a statement last week – kenny himself had said that he would manage the club on a temporary basis until a full time manager was found as he loves this club & would not see it managerless, but does not want it full time which contradicts your story (true or not) about him telling the board he was the best man for the job. also the fact that it is being reported in the times does not make it any more credible either as its been a rumour kicking around for nearly 2 days now. a paper has got wind of it, thats all – perhaps from scouring the web and reading your’s or RAWK’s stories. true or not i hope kenny does not take the job full time. i dont even think kenny will feel himself right for the job. he has been out of the game far too long in this sense and it will be a sentimental error of judgement to want him as manager in my oppinion. the club needs to be looking forward and not back !!!! dalglish’s last 3 signings before he quit in 1991 were very questionable and some say he left souness with a sinking ship. i would not go that far !!! obviously the awfull strain of hillsborough will have had a telling affect on his decision back then and he did do a great job at blackburn too. I love the man – he is my all time hero but think it would be a mistake to install someone who has been out so long and would not want to see another keegan at newcastle. if kenny is picked however, i would like to see rushie installed as the main manager perhaps under kenny’s stewardship ???? rushie would be also a fantastic go between and knows the players very well + is a greatly recognised international legend to help pull in players. I dont think anyone thought you were lying with the story yesterday – merely just miss informed & i think people were angry that you shared the story without naming the source. maybe you could prove to be right yet ??? the liverpool – web guy what ever his name is sound’s like a bit of a prat. his attacks are completely unfounded, over agressive and personal. ignore it and keep doing what you believe in. 4. Lfc made a great move by pathing wit Benitez, but wat the club would not do is 2 bring an amatuer manager.kenny should be caretaker why we look 4 a perfect replacement.these are my suggestions Frank Riijkard, marco van basten or Lippi.one of dem should emerge lfc boss

  5. I think Marco van Basten, Jurgen Klinsmann, and Slaven Bilic need to be thrown in to the mix. All great managers waiting to reemerge. I dont want Hodgson or Sven. Both shit managers.

  6. I think Kenny would be better if it should be compared with Hogson. He is one of our legend, then I am sure he will be in charge of the totality of his pride to fight club.

    Go Kenny.. YNWA!

  7. If Roy comes in, so be it. It would be a gamble though.

And please, no one mention Klinsmann. The guy is an utter joke. He freaked out the Bayern players with is ‘new age’ techniques. Klinsmann should not even be allowed to say ‘Liverpool.’

  8. all liverpool supporters would have to agree king kenny would be a fantastic mananger,,but still we would have most of rafa`s unwanted players in the squad,,i won,t mention ngog,,oops,, sorry nabil but i think you was rafa`s nephew and he wanted to keep family happy and gave you games2,,and a few more who ive tried to blank out my mind. however roy hodgson has done fantastic at fulham as he has in previous jobs,,imagine what he could do with a few quid 2 spend.. lets all get behind whoever gets the best job in the world and give them the time to get their own squad built,,ynwa

  9. I have serious concerns about Hodgson and Dalglish taking over.

    1) Kenny – the king – my all time LFC hero without any shadow of a doubt! I love the bones of the guy and have no question of his commitment to the club but, from a purely selfish point of view, I love the legacy he has at the club right now! I fear that working with these tossers that currently own the club could tarnish that legacy, if Kenny takes the job and it doesn’t go right by Christmas the moaners will be on his back. His history will be forgotten and the last thing I want for the best player I ever saw in a Liverpool shirt and the player manager that slotted home that volley at Chelsea in 86 to secure the double (amongst other amazing moments and achievements including the goal after 30 odd seconds at Goodison just as I hit the Whisky wall in the Park End in the pissing down rain)is for him to be remembered as a failed hero that couldn’t put us right! He doesn’t deserve that and these Yanks wont give him the support he needs to do the job we all know he would if he could!

    2) Hodgson – what has he done in the Prem that Rafa hasn’t? (apart from consistently finish below LFC in the Prem)

Yanks out and lets build from there!
