Red’s World Cup Daily Round Up 19/06/2010

Day nine is behind us. Two matches with our Reds participating. Dirk Kuyt helped to to get his Oranjes into the last 16 and Daniel Agger’s Denmark may still hope for getting trough after a thrilling match on Saturday evening.

Netherlands – Japan 1:0

Liverpool’s No.18 played the full 90 minutes as the Dutch battled to a deserved victory at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. It was a rather boring match when nothing was really happening but then, after an hour of frustration, Holland finally broke the deadlock after 53 minutes when Wesley Snijder scored with a real bomb.

Ryan Babel was again an unused substitute for the Dutch who are the first team qualified for the next round. Oranje boven!

Cameroon – Denmark 1:2

Daniel Agger also played the full 90 minutes and he really did a good job. Cameroon had 23 efforts on goal but with Agger magnificent at the back, they couldn’t find that elusive equaliser, but they certainly played their part in one of the best games of the tournament so far.

Agger’s side now face a Group E decider with Japan on Thursday to decide who will join Dirk Kuyt’s Holland in the last 16. God lykke!
