Roy of the Rovers

I am really looking forwards to the Roy Hodgson era at Liverpool. After what he did with Fulham, I am confident that he can do a job at our club. After all one would like to think that we have better players than Fulham do, and that if Hodgson can bring out the best in them and take them to a European final and their highest league position in a while, then he should be able to bring out the best in some of our players.

I wouldn’t say that we have a bad squad in general, but that some of the players that we do have at the moment haven’t really performed to the best of their ability (either by not having the games, or being played out of position). Hopefully Hodgson can bring that out of them, and bring in a few fresh faces to bolster the current squad, and hopefully have both Gerrard and Torres injury free for the whole season.

If he can do that, then I reckon we can challenge, perhaps not for a top four finish (but top six definitely), but perhaps for the Carling Cup and the FA Cup and the Europa League.

  1. We must be setting a target of top 4 rather than top 6. Outside the top 4 and you miss out on the Champions league, making it more difficult to attract and retain the best players. Only then can we mount a serious challenge for the title in the next couple of seasons.

  2. The more I read and think about it, the more I get convinced that Roy really can do it. Not totaly convinced, though. Because it is not easy to replace such a bloke like Rafa was – as a manger and as a man. Rafa is Rafa. But we ought to give Roy a chance and support him. I do.

  3. Why not shoot for the title instead of Top 4.

Like you said, if Roy can get the players in top form at their potential then anything is possible.

Screw everyone else. Take care of our own business and everything will fall in place!!

  4. Dead right man, top four here we come, ive got faith in him, and remember

    COME ON ROY

  5. I am playing devils advocate at the moment and not hoping for too much from this season, but I do agree that the top four is not completely beyond us, as long as we can play better then the teams who finished above us last season.

If we manage that, then the sky is the limit. I would love to be proven wrong and would be the first to admit that I was wrong as well.
