History has already been written. Uruguay made it into the semis of the World Cup for the first time since 1970 and Holland made it into the final for the first time since 1978. There always has to be one to lose, but Uruguay doesn’t has to be ashamed. The went down with dignity.

Dirk Kuyt played the full 90 minutes and created the third goal for Arjen Robben with a perfect cross from the left flank. Ryan Babel was again an unused substitute,
It was a hard fought victory and it certainly wasn’t vintage football from the Dutch, but Bert van Marwijk’s side just about did enough to earn their victory.
The match was very even as both team were playing strong, but the Oranjes were slightly better. Uruguay had a small disadvantage as they had to play without two important men: captain Diego Lugano and Luiz Suarez. But they didn’t give up and the Dutch had to stay concentrated till the very end as Uruguay pulled a goal back in the second minute of stoppage time when Maxi Pereira slotted home from close range. This gave them slight hope and they piled on pressure in a tense last few minutes, but Kuyt was a hero as he made a fantastic tackle in his own penalty area to block a dangerous cross.
Holland will now face Spain or Germany in Sunday’s final.
