Why Not Dani ‘the killer’ Pacheco?

Posted by

First of all I am very happy to be back writing as the world cup and economics of the club did not give me many words to write down, and thanks to Antoine for not ‘firing’ me, even though I vanished for three months….

Now, coming to rumors that Liverpool might well be signing a new striker in Huntelaar, Remi or I’ve also read the name of Kun Aguero and Diego Forlan in some places. All these strikers are no doubt very good and could make a big impact, if they come to our club. But with the clubs current financial situation, a possible 10 to 20 million fee for any of these front-men seems to be a bad option as we have other areas we need to improve.

The recent injury problems for Torres, made us seem longing for his replacement, and although David Ngog does provide a reasonable cover, he still needs to develop more before becoming a full time cover for a player like Nando. Having said that, we often tend to forget that we have (may be not World class) but proven strikers in the form of Dirk Kuyt, Milan Jovanovic and importantly in the context of this title, please have a look at the following stats:

1- A Proven Barcelona youth Talent. (we all know what that could mean)
2- Averaging a goal every two games for Liverpool Reserves.
3- An Astonishing 8 goals in 11 starts for Spanish Youth internationals.

Ok, scoring goals for reserves may not make all the headlines, but now DANI PACHECO has scored 3 goals for Spain U-19s in the last two games, with Barcelona rated so highly for their youth talent and the transfer window on its peak for youth hunt, I would not be surprised to see very reasonable bids for the Spanish Sensation the call ‘THE KILLER’. But I have a question, Is this what we buy young players for?

I think it is time we stopped saying that he needs to develop physically or he needs more height, as clearly he won’t grow another 15 inches at the age of 19. Clearly, the boy does have class, talent and skill that makes up for any physical lacking. We all know that if given enough time, he will definitely score as well.
His name would be echoing in the Spanish press this weekend and before Barca come back to bag their youth star or he himself realizes that he is better than the ‘reserves standards’ and moves on, it is time we pull out the best of his immense talents at Anfield and make him a regular in the first team ‘cameo players’.

YNWA!

  1. Great article. If he was stil at barca he would have 10-15 games under his belt by now. He is the same height as yossi and has more if a physical presence than he did, and we just sold him for £5.5m. He deserves his chance.

  2. i think roy will give him a chance. he deserves it, but i still think we need another striker along the lines of remy. full of pace.. ive had enough of waiting for babels potential

  3. Dani pacheco is not a winger! he is actually a striker, or second striker! The best youth talent we have at LFC!

  4. Hes actually a striker. U idiot. He just plays their because his managers exploit his versatillity.
Rooney, henry and DavidVilla have all played on the wing!!

  5. Dani pacheco is not a winger! I despair with some fans. He is not a target man, but he is the second striker, reminding me very much of kenny or Beardsley. His class stands out and he deserves at least 20-30 appearances this season.

  6. Good article….the issue Daniel Pacheco has always been why did RB never give him the run to prove himself. He has great potential and can easy be the player for the future.

Sure that RH will be giving him the opportunity he deserves.

On a second note, I am still of the opinion that Liverpool require an established second striker to play alongside Torres.

  7. He’s a forward not a winger FFS do you even watch football?

    Good article and good shout!

  8. Dani is a sensation just like fowler when he was 19 so put him in the 1st team get him experienced while we r in transition and when we return 2 the champs league next season he wil destroy teams and b perfect link up 4 torres if ur gud enough ur old enough plus playin in 1st team wil immprove him even more as he wil b playin with world class players week in and week out YNWA

  9. I agree, think he would fit into the 4-2-3-1 system nicely and hopefully develop into a similar player like Pedro of Barca. Gerrard, Cole and Pacheco could alternate in the 3 providing Torres with the amunition and chipping in with 15 goals a season each. Would be a really fluid attack cabable of providing 75 Goals (Torres 30) a season. Rafa would never try and play like that, hopeflly Roy ses this as the way to go. Would love to get Remy as well to play in one of those positions, then we got Kuyt, Jovanovic, Babel and Maxi who can play there. Barcas formation is the future, fluid attacking and hard to pick up players…

  10. Actually, I’d say Pacheco can play on the wing or up front. At the Under 19s his manager has been playing him on the left wing, but I think his natural position will always be as a striker. I’ve watched all Spains games and something I’ve noticing about Dani is he,unbelievably, looks even quicker! Maybe all the gym work has paid off.

  11. RB never played because he, and I quote “wanted to give the senior players more minutes”. BUT if the senior players weren’t doing it why didn’t he call on him. The more time goes on since Rafas sacking the more I see it was for the benefit of LFC. YNWA

  12. RH are you reading this? Prob not, However this lad is Awesome and needs to move on up to the 1st team in a BIG way.. Did any one say Super Sub? :)

  13. Last season must have been very frustrating for Pacheco. He was nearly ready for 1st team action, but all too often when he might have had the chance to play (Carling Cup, dead CL ties etc) he was either injured or on Spain duty. He made one goal for Ngog in Europe, I remember, but when he played in the league he didn’t look quite ready. Last season we were unfortunately in the situation that we were playing so poorly it was hard for a youngster to come into the team – it’s always easier if your teammates are confident and the opposition are half-beaten before the game starts. But yeah, I’m hoping that this season he might get the chance to have a few more games. Will he be able to slot straight into the team after the u19 champs are over, or will he be expected to have a 3 week stand-down?

  14. Dani is going to be a massive player within the next 3 years and I guarantee by then he will be worth at least £30m. I hope and pray that we keep him and dont’t take the first good offer for him. RH fight for this kid he is special.

  15. Don’t let Dani go anywhere. He’s one of the best youngsters we’ve ever had at the club and he seriously needs to be given games. We lost one this week due to permit chaos.Get him playing and not just in an under-strength carling cup side.

  16. i think we must go for a striker development….

    dani torres

    kuyt gerrard cole maxi

here is his list you can clearly see a sun logo to the right hand side

  18. plz dont sell pacheco plz plz plz plz search gud player we dont get so easy. he is the owen we lost . he can b also a fernando tores in 1 or 2 year for spain. hope my comment reach to hodson plz guys help me to protest for not selling him. we’ll never walk alone. show the difference we are…. with others

  19. one of Roy benefits is his ability to get the best out of players and with Kenny in the background players like this will get their chance, LFC would do well to leave Carling cup to the youngsters and even the FA cup, these guys need first team football. It is going 2b a good season

  20. Have to echo allege other comments that I’ve read. A player of immense potential!
Make him feel special, give him the number 7 shirt. There are enough players in the team to look after him.
Torres might actually gain from having someone to look out for.. His petulant side may disappear and being to speak in his native tongue would have the likes of John Terry baffled when talking tactics with each other…
    Give him a chance, Roy!

  21. Dani will be our new Luis Garcia. Definitely if he is given his chance he can do magnificent. he has got immense skill to help Liverpool win games. he is fit enough to play at this level. he had already shown us what he can do while he he appeared as sub. in the premier league and champions league.

  22. Pacheco is another youth player bought by Benitez with the sole intention of selling him on to make a profit. Look at the promising young players we’ve had and sold on before they’ve really had a chance to develop. I’m sure this was Benitez’ plan for raising funds to buy players. The problem being that when we as fans see the promise and potential when watching a reserves game or pre-season, Benitez seemed oblivious. Surely if they do have the potential we should have been keeping them. I for one am glad Benitez has gone but I’m not yet convinced Roy is the best man for the job. Will gladly eat my hat if I’m wrong though. All we need now is the Yanks to go and we can all breath a little easier.

  23. Roy Hodgson ias the excellent manager he is because he recognises a good player when he sees one and knows how to bring the very best out of him. We all know Dani P is a fantastic talent so I am confident that RH knows exactly the same and will be looking to get the very besy from him and will know how to help make that transition between reserve team and first team most effectively.

  24. Roy should make something of him. Benitez would probably be slowly introducing him to first team until he is 24.

I say give him a chance or dont waste his talent, let him go back to Spain.
