Tom Hicks’ Massive Summer Transfer Window Revealed

Posted by

On February 1st, 2010 Tom Hicks claimed that the Summer Transfer Window of 2010 will be a massive one.

Here is the full breakdown, I am showing that 11 players have arrived while 17 players have left.
Roy is facing the same headaches that Rafa had to deal with (lack of funds), for the 4th consecutive transfer season the club has had a negative or zero net spend. Yes, there are some transfer fees that are undisclosed but from what I am seeing so far, the club spent
£25 million while selling £38.1 million. This probably means that Roy put £13.1 million in the bank to probably cover the interest on the loan that Hicks & Gillett burdened on our club.

Also good to point out that Roy brought in Joe Cole on a high salary and looks like he was compelled to send out a few players on loan to reduce his salary bill to make up for Joe’s.

In (11):
Jonjo Shelvey 18 years old from Charlton Athletic (£1.7 million)

Alex Kacaniklic19 years old – To Fulham (trade)

Nikolay Mihaylov 22 years old – To FC Twente (£1.5 million)

Total Sales : £38.1 million* (+ undisclosed fees)
Average age of players sold/released : 23.6

Of course I am not claiming that these fees are accurate but even if they are off by a couple of million it shows you the sad state of affairs at our club. We hope and pray that by next transfer season we will have new owners who will invent some money into our club, we need it badly.

  1. Mascherano’s fee was confirmed today as 24 million EUROS, so 19.8m POUNDS…can you amend these figures?

FYI, the Poulsen fee was paid in 2 instalments, half now and half next summer and LFC had to provide a bank guarantee for that – an indication that the Board are looking to bank every possible penny to service the debt.

  2. Masch for £24m? everywhere i’ve seen it so far has said £17m or £18m. Plus Yossi too i’ve only ever seen him priced as £5.5. So that could be as much as £9m less coming into the club.

    Liverpool Fan?

By the fans for the fans
(sorry EOTK but we need more users/posters)

  3. what a suprise the yanks r liars what all liverpool supporters know already they need to go now we r a joke. anybody who knows anything about football knows that our main aim in the trasfer market was a forward the yanks failed to deliver we have a chelsea fan as our chairman (broughton)get rid of the lot we need new owners now. even fernando said it this morning f*** off yanks.know one can blame fernando if he goes in january i would not bame him leaving a sinking ship at this precise moment in time

  4. At least Mascherano’s sale seems to be closer to the right number than we heard during the week of speculation.

We can look at this grimly, but instead let’s be optimistic about Cole, Jova, and the lads coming on at the end of the window. We’ve also got bright young talent in Shelvey, Wilson and my particular pick – Suso!

    So Let’s Go Reds! YNWA!

  5. Masch, I found was sold for GBP17m plus add ons, but we also bought with add ons, so in my workings I’ve left the add ons out.
i was hoping that with open slots in the registration we could’ve signed a striker or Ashley Young on the quiet, but unless the yanks gave Roy money to use, he broke even with all of that business and didn’t have the money to do that.(apparently the money from yossi’s sale went to RB’s payoff).

  6. WE SO NEED NEW OWNERS ! We need the likes of JUAN MATA (solves our problems on the laft flank), PATRICK HELMES (the solution to our problems up front,), JAVI MARTINEZ(Lucas’s replacement(very good player, at a young age, he’s better than Lucas) and ROYSTON DRENTHE(the perfect solution to ALL our problems on the left).

After getting all these players, we can offload Degen, Aquilani, El Zhar, Insua, Aurelio and Plessis.

    Final team :

    GK Pepe Reina
    RB Glen Johnson
    RCB Jamie Carragher
    LCB Martin Skrtel
    LB Royston Drenthe
    RWM Joe Cole
    RCM Steven Gerrard
    LCM Raul Meireles
    LWM Juan Mata
    RCF Fernando Torres
    LCF Patrick Helmes

    SUBS :

Brad Jones, Daniel Agger, Paul Konchesky, Javi Martinez, Ryan Babel, Milan Jovanovic / Maxi Rodrigues, Dirk Kuyt / David N’gog.

  7. I would rather we got Carlton Cole than give money to the Wanks

Btw is the 2 youngsters to Fulham a loan or permanent deal?

  8. Clearly the fans were not the only ones lied too. Torres’s statement today would also indicate that he was under the impression that some big names would be coming in. If we are not sold to an investor before January transfer window expect to see the last of Torres and Gerrard and don’t expect the money earnt to be spent on players coming in either!

  9. Well the deadline day is October 6th for loan repayments to be made back to RBS around half of it the bank wants back. If this doesn’t happen the bank takes over, we end up in administration, 10 point deduction and a 60 million fine. The only good thing about this will be the Yanks won’t get a penny from any sale the bank makes and we will be rid of them for good. Or another takeover will happen maybe with a consortium could be the Keith Harris one, or lastly and i really hope this is not true, the owners could get a new refinance deal but this time with Barclays, but 3 of the board members have rejected this and a sale is the best option……YNWA

Antoine do you have any news on a takeover??????

  10. Antoine is there any other ex LFC players playing in the MLS and can you do another interview with them? I loved the Paul Dalgliesh one you should put it up again.

  11. Okay, so maybe Antoine’s figures will not be 100%, but no one ever really knows what is being spent or being brought in. Fact remains we have more income than expenditure.
We must take into consideration player’s salaries and improved contracts as these usually go from transfer money (I mean they are also taken into consideration if the wage bill grows).
There is also the aspect that we may get players on loan, and we may have put something aside for January (some players may become available then, and not now).
As for comments made by so-called ‘A Fan’, well, they were rather ‘jerkish’ and uneducated, but then, what do you expect….

  12. Fans should make stronger protest’s to get the owners out.
Stop coming to games, stop buying shirts maybe even boycot sponsors.

As long as they can get another loan they are staying.

I personally would rathher stay at home than watch my club sink down the table when it could have been stoped.

  13. ROY WAS PICK ABOUT 40 MILL POUND.. SO HE WILL SURF A STRIKER ABOUT 15 MILL POUND AND HE HAVE 10 MILL MORE…. SO.. HE WILL GET 1 MORE PLAYER WITH SWOOP.. MAYBE BABEL ( 10 MILL ) OR LUCAS ( 7 MILL ).. TO FUND SOME HE LIKE PLAYER…

AND HE WILL GET MORE UNDER 18 AGE PLAYER FOR BACKUP THE BUISNESS.. MAYBE MORE 6 0R 7 PLAYER BETWEEN 100 – 500 THOUSAND POUND RATE.

  14. Liverpool did try and sign other players but either had bids rejected or the players themselves turned down the move (e.g. Van der Vaart and Gyan).
Perhaps now is the time to give more of the youngsters a start. We often say that they aren’t given a chance and then complain when there is no one more experienced to play. Look at Utd back in the days of Bechkham, Scholes, Butt etc. We have some very exciting young players and without time in the team they will amount to nothing which is what happened under Benitez. He signed so many promising kids and then signed older average players to play instead (Kromkamp, Josemi, Voronin, Lucas etc.)
I also think people are exaggerating a bit about up front. We have Kuyt, Jovanovic and Babel who can all play up front and then Pacheco and Ngog who are both improving. Personally i would like to see Pacheco given more time as i think he could become a very good player.

  15. ATTACK and HURT THEM PERSONALLY!! IF WE DO NOT INTIMIDATE/SCARE/ASSAULT/HURT EVEN THOSE TWO AGAINST THEIR OWN PERSONS? WE WILL GET NOWHERE – VIOLENCE IS THE ONLY THING THEY WILL UNDERSTAND!!! THAT AND BOYCOTTS – MAYBE YOU ALL KNOW THAT NOW NO? WELL DO IT!!!

  16. Everyone s complaining that we havnt filled the 25 man squad! Arsenal havnt and neither have Chelsea and im sure many other teams havnt! we have improved our squad from last year! And our youth players youth players are improving. Aureliocant be classed as an ‘out’ because we re-signed him! im definitely against the americans and refuse to buy the new liverpool shirt to fund them however this transfer window i think is a success and no matter what had happened this window there were always going to be complaints becuas ethey are still the owners! And Simon W you need help! ha

  17. We have to face up to the fact that we were taken over by a pair of unintelligent pair of sea bed dwellers. They have no understanding of football, they are dumb and they have no interest in what happens to the club.

They have consistently lied, they have taken on more snakes on the board (Purslow and Broughton) and brought the club into disrepute. They have no decency and Hicks is a donor for the US republican party – enough said.

    Yanks out.
