Stoke City 2 Liverpool 0
After a rather lacklustre performance against Wigan in midweek I had hoped that we might put on a bit of a show against Stoke to banish away the memories of the midweek disappointment at the DW Stadium. After all Stoke weren’t doing that well this season and they hadn’t scored against us for years, so surely we wouldn’t lose points like we did against Wigan?
The next 90 minutes were pretty much hell to sit through, as no matter how hard we tried we just couldn’t break Stoke’s resolve, and Stoke looked like they were enjoying themselves and were actually having a go at trying to get something out of the game, which was more than what we seemed to be doing.
Once Stoke’s first goal went in, I knew that it was game, set and match to the Potters as we never looked like scoring at nill-nill, let alone at one-nill to the opposing team, and when they scored the second goal it was definitely over for us.
With performances like these we aren’t really going to get anywhere fast, and it is rapidly approaching Christmas and the time when we can truly examine how Roy Hodgson has done as Liverpool manager, I just don’t know what to think about the situation at the moment, but if we keep on getting results like this one, then I will pretty much be decided about what the club should do.
