Liverpool 3 West Ham 0

Forget the win against Chelsea, today’s victory against West Ham was our best performance of the season so far. I don’t think that anybody really put a foot wrong in this game (particularly in the first half) even the much maligned Poulsen had a much better game than he has done so far in a Liverpool shirt and it can’t be long before Raul Merieles hits the back of the net either.

From the word go we attacked the West Ham goal and it wasn’t very surprising when we finally broke the deadlock in the 17th minute with a fine goal from Glen Johnson. I tell you this man is wasted in defence. Like Gareth “The Best Player in the World” Bale he is much better utilised as a midfielder, especially when he scores goals like this one.

We carried on peppering the West Ham goal with shots from all over the place and it was a double hand ball that gave us a second goal courtesy of a penalty from Durk Kuyt, not that we didn’t deserve to be two goals ahead by this time anyway.

By the time Maxi headed in the third goal not long before half time the game was over and the three points were ours and it seemed like how many more goals would we score in this game as West Ham were just simply awful in this game and if it wasn’t for the heroics of Rob Green then the result could have been very embarrassing for them.

In the second half we did take our feet of the gas a little and didn’t really push forward, and attack their goal as much as we could have done, but did still manage to have a few more shots on goal and still look like there could more goals in the game, but it wasn’t to be and 3-0 was the final score, but it could, and should, have been so much more.

Still, at least we silenced the critics who said that we couldn’t win a game without Steven Gerrard on the pitch, well for a short while at least!

  1. We should have “hammered” them for 6. We need to fix out goal difference for us to be successful. You don’t take pity on guys as bad as West Ham.

  2. Very good performance from the whole team although I do agree that we should have been more aware that our goal difference is atrocious and should have used the second half to increase pressure and goal amount. Let us hope that we do not regret this as it is noticeable that many teams share points and are ranked by the GD. Still a definite improvement all round.
