Inter fire Rafa

Posted by

Sky News and various Spanish media sources are reporting that Rafa Benitez has been fired from Inter Milan. This follows various rumours that were circulating around the Internet over the last few days.

Rafa openly ciriticised the Inter board last weekend following Inter’s victory of the club World Cup, the former LFC gaffer issued an ultimatum to the board “back-me-or-sack-me”. At Inter he was suffering with terrible injury spells and wanted more transfer funds available.

This morning Rafa was spotted by Sky Sports outside his home in Merseyside where he will be spending Christmas with his family. This morning there were also rumours that his wife Montse told ‘friends’ on Facebook that Rafa received an email from Inter last night confirming that he was fired. On Twitter, a document from a school in Merseyside showed that Rafa’s daughter was returning back to the school was also making the rounds.

  1. Really shown his level now! Takes the best team in Italy and ruins them, blames the board, the players and everyone but himself then demands more money to buy new players. Probably best they sacked him, otherwise they’d have ended up with a squad of half wits and has beens!

  2. Blueboy your’e a tit. He’s had horrendous injury problems but is only 7 points off the top. could you lot with Moyes in charge do the same?

  3. Inters loss, Rafa should never have gone there. He couldn’t have done anything more than what Inter achieved last season, he should have gone to Juventus. But I think he went there to show all the people who slated him what he could do if he was backed with money but once again he wasn’t.

I think he should wait before his next job take a break, go to Madrid and go see his old pals at Real, which will piss Jose off lol. Speak to Reina n Torres persuade them to stay at the club……YNWA

  4. How did Rafa ruin them? They’ve had loads of injuries, plus no desire because they’ve won everything.

Ancelotti isn’t being accused of ruining Chelsea, and they’re in the exact same situation.

He didn’t blame ‘the board, the players and everyone but himself’ either.

    Don’t spout nonsense.

  5. My lot Bill? I’m Chelsea you tool!

He should never have tried to follow Mourinho, was never going to better that record so was on a loser from the beginning, even I didn’t expect him to make such a hash of it so soon, and to threaten Moratti? Back me or sack me? Only one winner I’m afraid…

I’d love him to go back to Liverpool too, hopefully he’ll complete the job and take them down next time.

  6. George: “Ancelotti isn’t being accused of ruining Chelsea, and they’re in the exact same situation.”

Really? That’s odd because we’re two points off the top after a horrendous injury problem and internal strife, and Inter are 13 points off the top, that’s some difference, games in hand or not.

Rafa quote: “I don’t want to put the president under pressure, but I had spoken to him in the past about my project. ”

What project? How much ‘work’ does it take to improve the best team in Italy by a country mile, and the reigning European cup winners?

He’s deluded, and has been since he won the CL with Liverpool, he thinks he’s better than he is.

  7. Well done “Blueboy” – yet again proving that if you want to know anything about Liverpool you only have to ask an Evertonian. Haven’t you tossers got any websites of your own?

  8. Would love him back at Liverpool. Seeing the mess that Roy is making makes you appreciate how rafa over achieved with the squad for a few seasons.

  9. isnt it sad an evertonion is on a liverpool site chattin purile noncence would anyone be so pathetic to go on an everton site . go away worry about your own shit , and ignore him people just anothewr sad bitter . rafa for anfield

  10. Bring the big man back to Liverpool, its obvious he loves everything about it and so do the majority of fans. YNWA RAFA

  11. I’m a Chelsea supporter fella’s, not an Evertonian, and I’d wager there’s a lot more wrong with your club than there is with ours.

Carry on slating Everton by all means, no skin off my nose!!

  12. blueboy, Firstly let me point out yet another reason why you seem to speak from your arse “How much ‘work’ does it take to improve the best team in Italy by a country mile, and the reigning European cup winners?” Do you actually know how much harder it is remaining at the top level than going to the top? Rafa didn’t do the best job in his short stint at Inter but then again, his mistake was choosing a club that was already at the top last season, still you have proven you known nothing. Anyway personally I never ever once supported the idea of sacking Rafa, since he’s at Anfield, lets get Roy out and bring Rafa back. YNWA

  13. I think Inter have made a mistake in getting rid of Rafa so soon – he’s a good coach and I’m sure he had long-term plans and visions for them, as he did for LFC – his last season for us wasn’t his best but that doesn’t undo the good work of the seasons before.

I wish him every success at whatever he does in the future.

    YNWA

  14. Okay, someday I will do a write up about this. Rafa has not been sacked, not yet at least. Italian media have him hanging by a thread. In a totally unbiased comment, Rafa had and has everything going against him at Inter: the players, fans and media loved Mourinho, Inter had a fantastic and probably irrepeatable season by winning Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Champions League. Team remained untouched, so everyone expected an encore! No go. The void in Rafa’s lack to evoke passion will never be filled by competence. And the italians will never beat the patience the british fans held for the spaniard. Rafa will be lucky, very lucky to last the whole season!

  15. Sorry I do feel for him but everyone could see this happening, no way on God’s Earth would I have followed a manager who had just won the treble. I think Rafa should take a good few months out of the game and refresh its been a mad year or so for him.

And as for him coming back to us no thanks, we need a fresh new manager with fresh ideas and hopefully, HOPEFULLY a manager who can embrace the players and not take some kind of headteacher stance!

  16. silly man. You tell the board “back-me-or-sack-me” after you win the league and European cup..not the world club championship. Or is the World Club Championship a reasonable bargaining tool these days? All Rafa had to do to keep his job was keep the same system Mourinho used in exaclty the same way Chelsea have since he left and watch the good times roll….But No….

  17. That Ass Munch Blueboy is right actually, Rafa is a moron, we dont want him back at Liverpool, hes wrecked Inter in FIVE MONTHS! we finished 2nd behind Man Hoof because of Rafa! with any decent manager we would have won the league by 10points!, take no notice of the vocal minority ‘in Rafa we love’ lemmings!.

  18. @Antoine

To call the ‘Italians’ Jerks without knowing the full facts is ridiculous. Rafa has held every club he has worked for to ransom at some point. Isn’t Rafa a ‘Jerk’ for costing himself one of the biggest jobs in football by failing to engage his brain? Italian Presidents have for a long time been very swift to pull the trigger. Morrati has been in football and at Inter long enough for Rafa to have done some research into his personality.

Now JK will be doing a Hodgson v Benitez comparison in which Hodgson actually wins.

  19. I can see Man City being his next job maybe after Xmas, just so he can renew old rivalries with Fergus, besides if City want Torres who better to get then the guy who brought him to Liverpool to bring him to Eastlands, and hed would get the best out of them players, hope not tho……YNWA

  20. Some shit talk here, rafa makes more money getting the sack, would you like another chance ….oh yes…..more wasted money

  21. A whole lot of truth in BROX’s article!!! How much was his payout after he left Liverpool ??? HEAPS NO DOUBT!!! I’d bet the only reason they haven’t officially announced his sacking is they’re haggling over his redundancy package??? He’s obviously come back to Mersyside to show his vision to the owners @ EASTLANDS and with owners who don’t care how much money you flush down the toilet it seems like a marriage made in heaven.

  22. Well obviously nobody really knows what really happened when Rafa got the sack at Liverpool. He never wanted to leave, accepted only half of the money and gave A LOT of it to charity in Liverpool. The man generally loves LFC, understood Hillsborough and so does his wife and kids. He took the job at Inter because he’s a workaholic and has passion for the game. The only downside is that the stress levels may have affected his health so I agree some time out of the game will only do him a World of Good. I do hope that he will come back one day and NESV will back him.

  23. The man is a walking disaster. All he’s won in his career was Pako as the right hand.

After 2005-2006 season the club stopped progressing under him, the league is main indicator of the club progress or degress, every season we were out of the title run in October, November.

He spent a lot on players, gave them hugh wages and still complained about lack of money.

I remember he was brought to the club after his work in Valencia, we didn’t have the budget of Chelsea and MU and he was supposed to make us competitive with what we had. Only Chelsea spent more on transfers withing his 6 years in charge. But he always found excuses for himself, everybody was guilty except him.

  24. Although Rafa did have some successes with Liverpool, I don’t think he should come back. We all saw his weird decisions in his last season and the players clearly no longer wanted to work with him. Why would they suddenly want to now? Like or not, Rafa is a boring manager without the ability to drive his players on so his return, in my opinion, would be a disaster!

  25. Rafa you’re back home for Christmas. We wish you all the best to you and your family and wish you could be our gaffer again Soonest. YNWA

  26. Take Careful to your words Zamma and avoid patethic generalisations.
Moratti is an outstanding italian gentleman, and his reputation is highly rated.
President loves his Club, and He spent a fortune in Euros to give a fantastic side to Rafa.
5 top players? At Inter Milan?
    Are You drunk Rafa’
No surprise is the good man Moratti sack him: at least He never tolerates these sort of disrespecting ways.
Tom & George were easy target but this time Rafa has no excuses, and he can’t point the finger against anyone except himself: President Moratti doesn’t deserve this lack of respect and He did well to give the sack to Rafa.
Rafa is an impolite and some people doesn’t tolerate an impolite.

I can translate that in english, if it’s needed.

  28. Bring back Rafa!
European trophy with a poor team inherited from Houllier!!
    FA Cup
    European Final
Brought best out of Gerrard, Carragher and Torres. Gave us Reina.
Had to deal with 2-3 years of nil net investment under the muppets. Had to seel to buy leading to some transfer business which he would rather not have done but had to given financial constraints. Sadly some chhose to criticise him for this business but fail to look at the facts.
Highest ever points total in the league just 18 months ago.
Great defensive record – how else did Reina hit 100 clean sheets so quick? No pundit gave Rafa credit for this.
Gerrard and Torres goalscoring record is better under Rafa than anyone else – FACT!! ;).
Loves the club, loves the fans, loves players who work for the team
Respects honesty and justice – sometimes gets into trouble for being too honest about boards and journalists!!!
Prepared to stand up to Fergie and anyone else who dares attack his club.
Brought in proper coaches for the youth setup and brought in talent to the setup. Yes, he brought the Barcelona coaches over a persuaded Suso and Pacheco and others to sign.
He didn’t have a say in the prices paid for players in recent years – Purslow did that.

Hodgson? Won nothing, inspires no-one, infers his current players are poor, patronises fans with his daily contradictions, long ball tactics, journeyman!!! Can he beat 7th? Rafa got sacjed for 7th despite his previous record – why is Hodgson still manager?!!

  29. its a no brainer, carragher and to a lesser extent stevie helped him on his way, so if it happens it will be a while, i would lose jamie for rafa tomorrow but not stevie.

  30. urs, only chelsea spent more, the problem is man u spent £30 million on ferdinand, etc etc before he came. we still havnt spent that much on a player, in fact not as much as on veron, or rooney, only one player over £20 million. ronaldo, van nistleroy, hargreaves, henandez, nani, carrick etc etc were all free. how mant plus £15 million players have we bought and how many have utd bought in the last 10 years or so.

  31. How can we get this fat waiter to coach United? His sheer
incompetence, coupled with his reputation for destroying quality
teams would have us sitting in second place in no time! In Rafa we
trust (to bring down a quality side). Never forget, we are in a
post-Rafa funk, and it will take several years to rebuild.
Liverpool sits mid-table because of Rafa. Fact. All those whose
desperately cling to the CL win oh those many years ago, are blind
to the fact that Rafa is the root cause of many of our problems. It
was not so long ago (last season), when an overwhelming majority of
you were calling for his head. Our salvation does no lie in the
past. We must rebuild. Liverpool will be top dog again, but not
    with Rafa as master.
