Liverpool – Bolton (Saturday)

Posted by

After our disaster against Wolves we host high-riding Bolton Wanderers on New Year’s Day.

The focus of the game on the Bolton end will be on Tamir Cohen whose dad (former Red) Avi Cohen passed away earlier this week. Tamir will without a doubt receive a very warm reception from the Kop should he play.

On our end the focus of course will be on Roy Hodgson and what kind of strategy he cooks up. The word in the street is that he will be fired if don’t win this game. Maybe this is what Roy wants so he could collect his severance package and head back to London before the festive season ends.

The gaffer has some new injuries to deal with as Joe Cole has been ruled out while Steven Gerrard is doubtful. I think that Roy will stick with pretty much the same squad that played against Wolves.

Predicted Starting XI:
Pepe Reina, Glen Johnson, Sotiris Kyrgiakos, Martin Skrtel, Paul Konchesky, Lucas Leiva, Raul Meireles, Dirk Kuyt, Steven Gerrard, David Ngog, Fernando Torres

Kick off is at 3PM GMT

  1. Going to Anfield for my first match ever tomorrow. Taking my two sons. 400 mile round trip; 7+ hours in a car.

Genuinely conflicted whether I want a great performance and result to make a happy day and give the kids a memory to last them forever, or a repeat of Wednesday night an Hodgson a big step nearer the exit.

  2. happy new year antoine. i think tomorrow hodgson will choose the players the fans want to see. so i think:
    reina
    johnson-agger-skrtel-aurelio
    kuyt-ger-mer-maxi
    ngo-torr

my only doubt is agger. as he praised kyri and skrtel for their passion.

sincerely, if the rumours are true, i don’t know what to want about tomorrow’s match. being a red you always want to win but being a passionate red you look at the future of the club first.

  3. O o O your in trouble Bolton can play football they flow with the ball and have very technical players, Chelsea really struggled.

God knows what they are going to do to you in the run of form your in hahahaha

  4. ag please give me a break. As far as the other night was concerned we had many chances and we didnt take em and they had 1 and they took it.

I think we will bounce back this game and beat Bolton, whether or not that helps Roy who knows.

  5. To My Dearest RED Family.

May all the crap that has followed us at every single turn be left behind as we start 2011 with a team displaying forminable skills, goals with every shot on target, guile and football intelligence pure unadulterated passion, zero injuries and a change of leadership that this club really deserves. Owners who will come to realise that RED fans are the sharpest and most astute in the game and choices we make are only truly for the better of the team and nothing else.

That we the fans stay as we are. A family. A RED family. Always there through the good and the bad and the absolute crap. May we and our love ones, all enjoy Peace, Love, Joy, Health for the coming year. And the 70s and 80s to repeat itself all over again.

    YNWA to one and all

  6. After the supporters’ reaction to the Konchesky-Aurelio sub on Wednesday I don’t think even Hodgson is stubborn enough to play Konchesky tomorrow.

And when Stevie comes back again I hope he keeps Lucas and Raul in the middle and plays Stevie behind Nando. With Marvaux coming in on the left-wing we just need to move Glen Johnson forward as a winger and put Kelly in RB and we’ll be sorted, as long as we buy a quality back-up for Nando and play Agger in the back.

  7. @ NIK have a great day hopefully the team will come up with the goods finally.

But looks unlikely with our form and Boltons current form, they were unlucky to come away with nothing against Chelsea.

I would like to see Agger and Aurelio start for Skrtel n Konchesky. Antoinne you have the same line up as midweek i doubt Roy plays that team again, but then again he is clueless so maybe……YNWA

  8. Hey there Samuel. Beg to differ. We need someone with class in central defence and that someone is Daniel Agger. Would not mind rest of your selection though.

  9. I needed to add something to my previous post….AGGER is the ONLY central defender that has the ability to come out of defence with the ball and distribute with precision even at long range or even pose a threat with his sweet yet fierce left foot.

  10. @ Lfc4Life, well said mate, because i can’t remember any chances apart from the Meireles chance in the first half.

So Jevon go watch the match again if you can be botherd, id rather watch paint dry myself, would have been much more entertaining……YNWA
