  1. no babel, no fabio and poulsen back, urggg. I wonder when the young lads will have a chance, pacheco btw…

  2. i was really hoping pacheco would partner torres and raul and lucas in the middle oh well, in kenny we trust

  3. If Hodgson would have selected that 11 he would have got some flak, nothing really on the bench either-very worrying

  4. imagine if roy picked this team!! iv a good feeling about it though, with everyone chomping at the bit i’m hoping a barnstorming performance is on the way..

  5. I think he’s going for a 4 3 3 formation. Poulsen and Lucas to protect the back 4 and merieles as an attacking midfielder and then a front 3 of torres kuyt and jova. Could work

  6. also, is anyone following Babel? interesting to know if he’s being punished or just is Kenny just mixing up the squad in his early games!

  7. Could be a 4-4-1-1 Lucas and Meireles switching every so often to support Torres with Kuyt and Jova on the wings.

  8. yeah, I really would like to see bebel having some real chances not just going from the bench…. anyway, got to trust in our king, but it would br nice to see the kids having more chances, shelvey could have been a better choice them… poulsen.

  9. Away from home against a team who have already beat us at Anfield in a must win game and people are saying we should have played more kids? Really? Kenny has picked an experienced team and a formation designed to help Torres, Cole is injured, Aurelio cannot play 2 games in a week, Pacheco played for the reserves this week, not sure why Babel is out maybe it’s to give Jovanovic a chance or maybe he’s on his way out. He has young Kelly on the pitch with young Shelvey and still a very young Ngog on the bench.
Let’s hope Meireless can fill Gerrards boots!

  10. I’m not going to criticize the lineup but I do agree with Jeff. If Roy had picked this lineup people would say WTF, he’s clueless. Hoping for the best.

    Is Aurelio injured?

  11. Imagine the screaming if Hodgson had still been in charge tonight. Blackpool doing the double over Liverpool would have been 1000 to 1 before the season kicked off. I blame. Sack Kenny and bring back the Spanish waiter!

  12. No miracle here losing 2-1. The damage was done long ago with Hodgson being appointed. Now we are playing catch up and worse still fighting relegation. But, i still put my faith in Kenny. He will steer us out of trouble eventually.

  13. @hans – so it’s Hodgson’s fault? Has nothing to do with the quality of our squad whatsoever. Interesting. Silly, but interesting.

My fellow fans are going to be hitting a hard truth soon that our squad is now, in fact, a mid-table team. There’s no getting around this fact anymore. Getting Roy out was the right decision but he didn’t damage the club, not really. It’s essentially the same squad. What damages the club far more is what we have for players on the pitch and the dearth of options any manager would have in bringing players off the bench, which right now are incredibly lacking.

When our offensive push centers on a striker who isn’t firing, no true wingers, no width, no pace, average center backs, a right back who doesn’t want to play defense, I would challenge any manager in today’s game to make that squad challenge for the top four spot many of us have deluded ourselves into thinking we can reach. We are in for a long rebuilding and the results will continue to come in unevenly and inconsistently until some new blood is brought in (or up from Reserves, but likely not this season) and the fans demonstrate that the players no longer have the cover of poor management. The ball now squarely in their court.

  14. Oh god hans blaming Hodgson, Noooo if anyone its Benitez with poor buys and isolating the better players to leave (Reira, Alonso).
Its just your players arent very good, Gerrard is declining so is Carragher and Torres wants to go home.
Dont now start saying things like bring back Rafa, your ridiculous.
And by the way if Hodgson would have played Johnsen at Left Back he would have been destroyed, when Phillips came on he beat him every time and this is a player who was at Wycombe last year

  15. I love the blame game because it always misses the mark. You want a target? Try Liverpool Football Club. No vision, poor financial control, questionable management choices, alienation of key players and promising youth etc etc.

The alienation of Alonso, the purchase of Keane, Hodgson’s tactics, Rafa’s ‘mind games’, Torres’ poor attitude/form. They’re all pieces of a much larger puzzle and until it’s solved, don’t expect a top 4 challenging LFC.
