Blackpool 2 Liverpool 1

Blackpool 2 Liverpool 1

It all started so well with Fernando Torres wonder strike early in the first half. After that I expected a glut of goals from us but sadly they never came. Blackpool equalised with a well taken goal from Gary Taylor-Fletcher and, in the second half, D J Campbell added a second.

We had a few chances, but they were few and far between, and a couple of bad lapses at the back led to the two Blackpool goals, so we can blame no one else for the defeat apart from ourselves.

Dalglish has bought to the club a sense of togetherness that was missing from the Hodgson side, and also a sense of urgency, which is showing in fits and starts in both this and the Manure game, but there is still lots of work to do judging by today’s result. I thought that we played better than we have done for a while tonight, but the result was the same old story.

I am hoping that the introduction of Steve Clarke into the backroom staff will see the defence start playing as a unit and actually marking opposing payers out of the game, quite a number of the goals we have conceded this season have been when players have been left unmarked in acres of space.

Here’s hoping that it will be third time lucky for King Kenny against Everton on Sunday!

  1. Rather a rosy report. What I saw was Blackpool fully derserving their win after out-playing LFC. Awfull performance and it is very clear now that the problems are bigger than most of us wanted to believe. So many problems that it is difficult to see how to get out of the mess. No sign of any light and we have nothing on the bench.
I expect another loss to Everton on Sunday and the panic alarms will really be sounding then. We no longer have Roy to blame. We are so easy to beat. Just put a little pressure on the player with the ball and we quickly give it up. I truly fear relegation.

  2. I got up at 5 in the morning (Japan Standard Time) and again ended up getting disappointed. But we shouldn’t blame Kenny for this defeat. He has been in charge only for five days. We changed owners and managers, and Steve Clark was a shrewd addition by Kenny. It’s the players that matter now.

But some requests to Kenny; please don’t start Poulsen and Jovanovic again. They are simply not good enough to wear the red shirt. And Johnson must not be used as a defender.

  3. fuck all the so called we could have done this we could of do that talk ,face it, we are shite ,and we need new players quick, lucas shite and so are all the other shite we have got over the last 18 months,im fucking sick of it all just look at us…………………………..

  4. I was glad Kelly got another start, but it was a bit odd to see Johnson on the Left side. Having him on the back line is a bad idea. Johnson has proven himself unworthy of playing on the back line.

And similar to Yuuki, over here in the States, I rushed home from work only to catch my team slipping towards the relegation zone. Hopefully, this is the last double someone gets on us.

If our bench was a flavor of pudding, it would be… tapioca…extra bland.

  5. I don’t think we can expect miracles overnight, kenny inherited a bad side lacking confidence, belief and depth. In my view we need to write this season off and trust kenny to start the rebuilding process. Confidence and belief will come sooner rather than later as I’ve think we’ve started to see signs already. Quality and depth will be addressed in this and the summer transfer windows and then we’ll be ready to go next season. Keep the faith!

  6. People still vaguely hating on Lucas have zero idea what they’re talking about. He hasn’t been the problem this season or last, is one of our better consistent performers, and lately a very important member of the Brazil national side.

  7. Although I wanted rid of Hodgson I also had my doubts about Kenny as when he left last time he left a defense that was past its sell by date having said that i can’t understand the negativity after only a few days of Kenny in charge .I think a lot of people are forgetting this squad of players did get a draw against arsenal playing the second half with ten men beat chelsea which is no mean feat even if they are having a bad run played well against tottenham despite the defeat personally speaking I think the confidence is shot to pieces and this won’t return over night but may do with just one or two good results hopefully starting Sunday

  8. we can’t expect kenny to wipe out the negative approach hammered into the guys during the last 6 months..just give him a few more days and he will give a new found belief in the players..we could really do without stevie suspension and leading on these days…

  9. I think let’s look at the glass half full than half empty. The team were crap. Even Kelly had a so so game. Johnson was acceptable as a right back but as a left back…. WTF? Skertel is basically letting ball and attackers skirt pass him at an alarming rate. The defence clearly misses the authority of Carra. Pepe tried and is definitely the best choice for captain at this time. The defence goes on their individual forays or tackles so high up leaving holes as big as the void in webb’s head empty with no cover. Please try playing Agger with Raul in center midfield. It seems so much more logical than johnson on the left. Play Glen infront of Kelly like all the fans (sorry. I don’t think we’re smarter but) hope to see. Let Kuyt or Pacheco play second to Torres. Linking up with the right and left. Put Maxi or Mr.Twitter on the left. If be it play the young ones. At least you know they’ll give it a good right go. I think Kenny was using this game as yardstick to see if the ‘fringe’ players are good enough. A sacrifice that would make sense if it finally allows him to see who should stay or who should go. Next it’s the BIG ANFIELD WELCOME BACK. And what better or bigger game to put the A1 team out for show than in the local dogfight. It’s time to bring the merry back into mersey. We leave it all up to you Kenny. And the 12th man shall roar from all corners of the globe because we believe that you are the one to bring us out of this mess. YNWA.

  10. And it’s also good to see El Nino grinding it out for the team. Harassing defenders, running for balls, tracking back and tackling and of course scoring phenomenal goals. It’s just a matter of time.

  11. And it’s also good to see El Nino grinding it out for the team. Harassing defenders, running for balls, tracking back and tackling and of course scoring phenomenal goals. It’s just a matter of time. That Kenny brings ut the best in him.

  12. And it’s also good to see El Nino grinding it out for the team. Harassing defenders, running for balls, tracking back and tackling and of course scoring phenomenal goals. It’s just a matter of time that Kenny brings out the best in him. And when Stevie comes back I hope that they’ll gain some first hand mojo on the Daglish/Rush combo deal from the master himself.

  13. Sorry for the repeat entries. The comp just went weird on me. And Yuuki I understand the early morning watch. Been up since 3.50am and now at work. I guess it’s our Asian way of being there and showing our RED spirit.

  14. Was surprised to see Johnson at left full, is fabio injured or something? I suppose it would of been a little harsh to drop kelly after sunday. Tonight he was alright. Blackpool seemed to run right through our midfield, poulsen and lucas were rubbish and mereles wasnt much better, kept giving the ball away unchallenged. The only positive was torres he put in a shift tonight and didnt look like a sulky child, for once. Same old shite at the back with the goals, rubbish defending. We need new players obviously..

  15. We are not shite.
We are a team undergoing confidence issues right now. We are team undergoing massive change with the owners, manager, coach, new players.
I’m tired of hearing constant rant in general about this and that. Kenny is in, give him some time to turn things around this season.
Let’s get behind our team, its the best we can do.

  16. Liverpool are fucking SHIT !!!! in shit and are shit !!! i have supported them for 38n years and this is what i have to face !! poulsen , jovanavic , lucas , johnson , all SHIT !!!! SORRRY KING KENNY THIS IS NOT AIMED AT YOU . the owners have NO CHJOICE BUT TO SPEND AT LEAST 60-80 MILLION BEFORE THE END OF JANUARY OR LIVERPOOL WILL BE GOING DOWN !!! we will not beat everton on sunday and im not even going to waste my money ,time and , effort to go and watch this dross play untill henry and co get out the check book and start acting like they really are serious , because i dont think they are and am ready for the big bang of we are not going to pump money in to liverpool but use it as a bank to fund buying players for boston red socks like the 2 they bought for $180 million , i mean were the hell does that leave us??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  17. “Tom the Red” ….I agree with you, the fact of the matter is our engine has seized and getting a new driver each time solves nothing, we have to get rid of all these shit players, IMO there are three players worth keeping, Reina, Torres & SG, all the others should play in the second Division. To think they get paid up to £100 000 PER WEEK!!! For playing like this its a bloody disgrace and I am sick to death of their half hearted performances….fire the bloody lot of them and lets start again…end of story.

  18. the funny thing is if this was roy and he put out this team line and wait 20 + minutes to make a stupid sub you (Adam stone) and the majority of other liverpool forums/websites/supporters would be all over him. you would be saying shit like “he has got to go, ruining our club, plays players out of there natural position etc” all that bullshit. but when an iconic figure such as kenny does it all is sweet and dandy and he is simply forgiven.
I ask kenny one simple thing and that is to remove glen johnsoK from out side immediatly.

  19. tom the red..
i totally agree. we need to wake up and realise that we are shite. as much as it pains me to say it.
half our players wouldnt even cut it in the championship, how they ever became premier league players, never mind actual liverpool players is beyond me.
and our star players are suffering as a result. as good as gerrard, torres & reina are, and lets face it, those 3 could probably walk onto ANY team in the world, their performances lately have suffered because the rest of the squad simply dont cut it. mereiles is possibly the only exception, he has potential to be a great lfc player.
we need a miracle. relegation is a serious serious possibility, which seems unthinkable given that only a few seasons ago we were finishing second and getting into champions league finals.
the liverpool pride has gone. the players we currently have seem like they couldnt give a fiddlers. we need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and wake the f@ck up.
sell the deadwood kenny… poulsen, jovanovic, johnston, konchesky, all have to go. simply not good enough, and dont merit their over inflated salaries. we need some quality brought in. and we need it NOW.
im sure i speak for most liverpool fans out there, please save us kenny. were already the laughing stock of the prem, lets not make it official with championship football next season, we beg u.
    YNWA

  20. To the other Adam. I was one of the few fans defending Roy Hodgson and I don’t for one minute think that Kenny could do any better than Hodgson could have done, but he does seem to lifted the mood a little, which is a start at least.

Finishing in the top 8 would a great finish for us this year.
