Suarez and Carroll: How will Kenny play them?

Posted by

Hello my dear REDs, I dont want to talk about a certain traitor that have been leading the headlines recently. I had enough of that, lets move on to our new REDs…… Suarez and Carroll

The new UEFA rules had compelled the board to use the money earned from selling players. With that short time they had, i say they did a very good piece of business. We brought in a forward (Suarez) to complement the traitor, who traitor bailed and moved….. and brought us to back square one and we had to move fast to get another one. Suarez have loads of potential, i remembered during the days of Rafa, he was one of the players that he was watching, an excellent partner for that traitor. That traitor would have suited the target man role, Suarez would be excellent as a supporting one. As you have noticed from many youtube videos on Suarez, he loves lurking at the edges of the defensive line, fantastic off-the-ball, always on the move. Suarez is more mobile and clinical(notice how many touches did he take before finishing all of his goals). If you compare, the traitor’s goal record in Atletico Madrid vs Suarez’s in Ajax, the latter’s one is impressive. Less games, yielded more goals.

What we have here my REDs, is an uncut diamond, he needs to be polished, he needs to adapt to the rigorous Premiere League……which brings me to Andy Carroll

King Kenny is also our wise king. He knows that Suarez will take some time to adapt. He needed another forward, someone who does not need adapting, someone who knows the English game, someone who is proven, someone who can give the REDs game another dimension. He is unplayable in the air, strong on the ball and at 22…he can only get better.

With Steve Clarke around it’ll not be long till we play 4-3-3 and Kenny has played that formation before in 1987. With our new Reds on board, these are some possible formations that we could see…..

4-4-2

4-3-3

4-2-3-1

  1. Why not 4-3-1-2??

    ——————Carroll——Suarez———————

    ————————Kuyt——————————

    ——-Meireles——–Lucas——-Gerrard—————-

    —Johnson——-Agger—–Skrtel———–Kelly———

    ———————Reina——————————–

  2. lol, football manager.

    my 1st eleven:
reina – kelly, carra(skrtel), agger, johnson – Lucas, Meireles, Gerrard – Suarez, Kuyt, Carroll

Suarez as an inside attacker, cutting in from the left, Carroll upfront and Kuyt as the hardworking winger.

  3. Carroll wouldn’t be left out of a 4-3-3 He would be central up top with Suarez on the left (a position he plays for on a regular basis for Uruguay). Everyone always says Gerrard needs to be central but I think he did a fantastic job on the right, a front 3 of Suarez (left) Carroll (central) and Gerrard (right) with Maxi, Meireles and Lucas across the middle sits better for me. Kuyts struggling now, need to look past him now.

  4. Your assumption of the UEFA Fair Play rules is not correct. The fact that we sold has little to do with buying players now.

The selling fee accounts for the year the player is sold. That means that the sale of Torres has no effect on FFP rules because it is in 2010-2011.

When you buy a player, the transfer fee is amortized over the length of the contract. This means that 35 million we paid for Carroll is accounted for over the 5.5 years of his contract (he will “cost” us 35/5.5mil=6.4 mil plus wages per year). Same with Suarez. This means that buying now only added the .5 year to that. This is a commonly misunderstood part of the UEFA FFP rules – but the clubs know this.

If you sell a player, the “profit” in FFP terms is the sales fee minus any amortized value left.

It made a lot more sense with regards to FFP to sell Torres in the summer so his profit would count in 2011-2012 and be counted in the first two reporting periods (ending 2013 and 2014). Footballing wise, it made sense to sell him now.

  5. Nice post.

However – I assume you’re talking about for the Stoke game mostly, cos Carroll doesn’t feature much above.

When he is fit, I’d love to see a 433:

    Suarez — Carroll — Kuyt

    Maxi — Meireles — Gerrard

    Johnson — Agger — Carragher — Kelly

    Reina

    POWER!

  6. For the stok game;

    Id like to see this;

    REINA
    KELLY CARRAGHER SOTO AGGER

    KUYT RAUL LUCUS JOHNSON

    GERRARD

    SUAREZ

  7. isnt this from FM2010??? well frankly now with the squad we have we can play with 4-1-2-1-2 i.e diamond version of 4-4-2 with gerrard and cole as LM and RM and raul as CAM

  8. I’d say this..

    Reina

    Kelly Agger Skrtel Johnson

    Lucas Poulsen

    Meireles

    Gerrard Suarez

    Carroll

It allows the full-backs to get forward and put crosses in for Carroll as Lucas and Poulsen can fill in the gaps they leave. I’m sure Meireles, Gerrard, Suarez and Carroll can score the goals to keep us in place for a EL spot.

Next season will look completely different and I can’t see Poulsen being here come Sep 1st.

  9. As you probably know, that 4-4-2 system of yours won’t work. Any half decent team will rip that arrangment a new hole.

  10. King kenny,i love formation 433.let carrol be in front, play suare behind him and let our machine energy kuyt, play behind our higher buyer.let (MD) of the team steve G controller’s of midfield in EPL.

  11. ——–————Carroll——Suarez———————

    ————————————Kuyt/cole——————————

    —————-Meireles——————Gerrard—————-

    ———————–——–Lucas——-——————
    —Johnson——-Agger—–Carra———–Kelly———

    —————————————Reina——————————–

  12. Until we get some pacey wingers I’d like to see the ‘diamond’ midfield, HZZ has got it spot on in my opinion

  13. thank you StevieG
with the diamond we can play suarez and caroll in there preferred position with strong midfield that dose not utilize wingers , which we do not have really.

  14. 4-4-2 is kind of outdated plus neither Raul or Gerrard can play the holding mildfield role.Need Lucas in there, even Spearin or dare I say it Poulsen.
4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 I’d play Suarez on the left and Caroll up top for two reasons.First You can’t be using your 35 million signing in one formation(4-4-2) and second of all Maxi lacks IMO quality to play as a starter for the LFC squad.I mean he has good intentions but he misses that final execution weather it is the final ball through (which we really need cause of Caroll advantage in the air and Suarez’s quickness) or the many opportunities he has failed to score(bar Bolton). It might be useful playing Fabio Aurlio in front of Johnson cause of his really good crosses.Plus I think you missed out on Carra playing along Agger..cheers!

  15. Leave all this shit to Kenny. This post could run for weeks coz no 2 fans will agree on particular line ups. Every one has favorite players who they insist on picking regardless. I think Lucas has probably been our player of the season so far simply because he never pulls out of a tackle, never stops running and has never let’s his head go down even when he makes a stray pass n gets slaughtered. Next time u see him he’s going in for 50/50’s 100% commited.but then the next 50 ppl will disagree, Leave a this ‘what formation crap’ to king Kenny.

  16. play 4-3-4

    Suarez — Carroll — Kuyt

    Meireles — Lucas — Gerrard

    Johnson — Agger — Carragher — Kelly

    Reina

  17. play 4-3-3

    Suarez — Carroll — Kuyt

    Meireles — Lucas — Gerrard

    Johnson — Agger — Carragher — Kelly

    Reina

  18. I believe we need to play Suarez and Carroll as a pair – have Suarez feeding off of Carroll, Suarez would be waste of goals in wide positions he’s a natural goalscorer Kelly———carragher———–agger———–Johnson. —————————–Lucas——————————- ————–kuyt——–gerrard——-meireles————– ——————-Carroll———–Suarez———————

  19. this should be the formation:

    ______________REINA_____________
    KELY_____CARRA______AGGER_____JOHNSON
    ______________LUCAS_____________
    ______GERRARD_______MEIRELES____
    ______KUYT__________SUAREZ______
    _____________CARROLL_____________
