What the F***?!?! This can’t be happening!

Posted by

Well if someone switched off their television sets on 5th January 2011 and turned it back on yesternight.. I’m sure they wouldn’t have believed it was LIVE (I understand that game might not have been on TV in the UK).

He/she would have thought- ‘This can’t be happening! Surely not!’ ‘This can’t be the 2010-11 season LFC’ ‘This can’t be the Liverpool of 30 days ago!!’ and would have been thinking ‘What the F**k!!’

Surely, one man can’t do so much. Surely one man can’t bring about so much change. Surely one man can’t make millions and millions of smile after such an ordinary season. Surely not. I mean, How can he?

Who gave him the right to be sooo potent? Who gave him the authority to make his predecessor look so ordinary? Who empowered him to turn the relegation scrap team into a Europe challenging team? Who does he think he is, some King?

The rhythm, the energy, the intent, the power, the stamina, the sync, the love, the camaraderie,  the passing, the shooting, the defending, the marking, the pressure, the movement, the pace, the dedication,  the desire, the gutso, the dreams, the passion, the belief, the ambition – how can one man change all that in so less time? How can he work the crowd to brilliantly? How can he motivate 7 continents at the same time? How can he convert some million depressed souls into people bouncing 15 hours after the game? How can he shut up the shrillest of reporters with a few words and a dry smile? How does everyone listen to what he has to say? Why do these reporters dread speaking to him? Why do these guys have to hide behind fans and still be stripped naked on live TV on their own channels? Does this guy think he is some King?

Then again, you can look at the smaller aspects of the game to know where it all changed. The first half was unfolding slowly. The crowd was silent. The players were getting into a new system. And that’s when the most potent weapon in unleashed that will change the color of the game. It wasn’t Suarez. It was the Kop. Suarez was asked to warm-up along the sidelines and the entire stadium came to life. The flavor of the game changed entirely. How can you justify a man using 42,000 players against 11? I mean, how can he do that? How do you make an entire stadium play? Who does he think he is, some sorta King?

Guys, that’s our King Kenny! Long live the king and long live his kingdom.

Thank you Sir, for bringing this smile back on my face.

YNWA!

  1. Not just the Kop. Millions of fans – on couches across the world – gave voice & smiled with hope & excitement for the future. YNWA!!!

  2. To be fair Kenny didn’t make his predecessor look ordinary he managed that himself (actually ordinary is a compliment)!!

But Kenny knows the game inside out, knows what makes the LFC fans tick, knows hot stir them PLUS he knows hot to motivate his players and get the best out of them. That’s the difference.

As a side note I completely understand why Ratboy Neville retired. He knew what Suarez is capable of and didn’t want to be made to look a bigger t*@t than he already is.

Even the sun is shining this morning!!!!

  3. watching the game last night was just mesmerising. liverpool were passing in short triangles and looked so comfortable on the ball that everybody wanted it. the passing and movement of the players was slick & pacy and just could not be contained by the players from Stoke. had it not been for Stoke ‘keeper, Asmir Begovic, liverpool could have scored 4 or 5 at least. may the revived liverpool way continue….long live King Kenny!!!

  4. Absolutely spot on and well written. Nobody can say it any better. Dalglish has worked his magic and undo the mistakes his predecessor has done in only a month. Long may it continue.

To the King….. I SALUTE YOU MY LORD…. LONG LIVE THE KING… YNWA

  5. Suddenly Agger looked like Messi when he had the ball and you needed to heckle him down before you could take the ball from him

  6. Thinking of it now … how unjust was it for all of us during Hodgson time !

Ahh didnt hear Kenny saying ” I need time to stamp my methods on the team “

  7. what a first 45 minutes of football last night.they deserved to win by more.bring on the chelski on sunday, feeling so much more confident about facing them now

  8. brilliant write-up this mate. I was in the kop last night and other that the SUAREZ chants after his goal, the loudest chant all night was ‘DALGLEISH’ he is the most important figure in our team bar none at the minute

  9. Thanks all the people. Your appreciation gives me goosebumps too.

StevieG1985 – good game last night mate. Well Played! I don’t live in the UK so unfortunately cannot follow the team but I have a small request for you guys. Can y’all please be as loud as possible on Sunday to make it sound like an LFC home game? Let the traitors know what they’ve left behind.

  10. “I want to help, whether it’s scoring goals or just helping out in general play…what counts is the team, not individuals.” -Luis Suarez

  11. Excellent reading and true in very sence of the words. My norwegian LFC heart is exploding in happiness we are finally moving forward.

  12. Great piece. Let’s remember that this turn around starts from the top bottom. All credit to the owners for putting King Kenny in charge and for showing their financial muscle. Seasons gone by we looked on at how other teams could spend money and we would sit and watch. We are back! YNWA

  13. brilliant post and i agree with every single word you wrote. the feeling is just so beautiful. thank you so much king kenny. all hail king kenny! ynwa.

  14. Kenny just oozes charisma, and its highly infectious. Brilliant posting Kaushal…the Willie shakespeare of footie.

  15. Goosebumps all over reading that. I never thought I’d see the day that the king would rein again.

Awsum article, excellent read. Cant wait till sunday. :D

  16. Just think about what we’ve been missing for the last twenty years. Imagine where we would be if the King was able to return, like he wanted to, after a short break.
Still we’ve finally got him back now where he belongs, but it just needs to be made official. None of this temp appointment, it needs to made permanent. Can you imagine the reaction and lift it will give on top of everything else.
To the new owners – you’ve done a great job thus far, thank-you, now it’s time to cement the ground under our King’s feet!

  17. The future is bright with Kenny on the throne, but what if, what if Kenny had been given the opportunity to take charge last Summer and have a full pre-season with these players, 6 months on where would we be now?

  18. Without any reservation I can say “That is the best written item I have read on this or any site” I wish I’d done it,well done mate.

  19. It’s like I had been asleep since 1989. To be honest, liverpool haven’t played like that since…well, since Kenny was last in charge. He made all those who came after him look like morons, which they are, for changing a system that used to rule Europe. Hodgson didn’t screw this up, neither did Hicks and Gillette. They all have to take the blame, especially Souness, who started the mess. Imagine if Kenny hadn’t left, I’m betting that wristwatch tapping, gum chewing a-hole from down the road and his band of red w@nk3r5 wouldn’t have half the titles they have.

  20. The reign of King Kenny ptII has commenced. But what after? I’m hoping Cap’n Carragher is diligently taking notes. There’s a lot to be learnt there (and that’s only after a few weeks). Important positions like this being filled by Anfield bred individuals is a necessity.

  21. All down to Kenny sorting out the root of our problems all along for the past 4 years, and that getting the players trained and coached right!.

What a difference 4 months makes!

  22. Great article mate, and with the arrival of Suarez and Carroll on Merseyside the FA announced a change of kit for premiership defenders to brown shorts and socks.

    Long live the king !!!

    YNWA

  23. Yeh great post dispels alot of the gloom and dissapointment after torres somewhat fractuous departure . I have one request can we please as supporters echo the behaviour of our club lately since Kenny has brought back all the old values the club was admired for . Integrity, honesty, proffessiolism etc. Please stop burning torres shirts , abusing him in the media and in forums .Have we not done similar taking andy carrol a local lad and geordie hero from them .. We are better than this lets show the rest of the football world that we are still the most knowledgable and fair fans in the world .fernando left , yes it hurt but he is a “madrileno ” not a born an bred scouser he was an artist of a footballer truly world class gave us some amazing moments but hes gone now . We have new players to support and turn into the next liverpool legends What a statement that would make at stamford bridge if we politely applaud torres and not sing abusive songs about him .the plastic chelsea fans and the london press wouldnt know how to react then would they . Sing songs about our club and our players lets make the club as proud of us as we are now of them .

  24. I think it was very telling when Suarez started to warm up, it was literally seconds later the crowd came to life and started chanting, not the team or Suarez, but “DALGLISH, DALGLISH, DALGLISH, DALGLISH”

Guess that will also let the players know who’s in charge.

    Absolutely magical.

  25. Great article – just like to add some people have many years experience but it the same one, over and over again (two guess who this was and he had 35)- some gain more knowledge every year. They said Kenny had been out for too long – more like he had another 20 years experience under his belt. He is going to be even better then last time he was the Liverpool manager!!No excuses – just quality. He should be known as ‘King Jesus’ as he will resurrect Liverpool to rule once again!

  26. @ mcscouse – fully agree with you brother. Burning a Liverpool shirt is a disgraceful act. Remember the word “Torres” covers an insignificant portion on the shirt but the shirt itself is our emblem. We’re insulting ourselves.

In Kenny we trust. See the guts this man has, he takes Glen and moves him to the left. He slots a young guy without experience in that space. He plays Poulsen whenever he wants to and Aurelio becomes a midfielder overnight. Kuyt, whose been lethargic at times, becomes a lone striker… . And still the MAN gets it right. Mereiles who seemed to have forgotten his scoring boots in Portugal found them back. This is what we call vision.

NESV got that spot on – The appointment of Kenny is the one biggest of the season. Forget the £58m we paid for Luis and Andy. Like Torres, other players have done so in the past and will continue doing so in the future. But we’ve got Kenny for life. This man will never betray ur trust. Never Ever. Long live the true King – KENNETH DALGLISH.

Like Kaushal, am not a UK resident, i live very far away somewhere in the Indian Ocean but our hearts and soul are there with you. Yesterday the game ended at 2 a.m. and i was there in front of my telly. Support Kenny massively this Sunday. This guy will you u his very best and he needs u.

YNWA – LONG LIVE OUR KING

  27. well put culd not beleive kenny was overlooked the first time at least roy didnt get to waste to much money just finnished reading the kings book my liverpool home well hes home again long live the king down with mancs

  28. good article and you’re right he is the king thm scum can have their sir but we’ve got our KING KENNY

  29. Kaushal Goyal, what can I say.

A truly inspired piece of writing.

Your understanding of LFC, its values & Kenny’s view of the press is totally spot on.

I really hope the King will get the chance to read this, I’m sure he will be humbled.

    YNWA.

  30. fair play good write up but your forgeting one thing we only spent 1 million on luiz an carroll lol happy dayz if thats ne thing to go by then we as lfc fans cant possibly wait until the summer when the real spending starts the king is just getting started. the king bringing in some much welcomed experience knowledge in the form of sir b,shankly and sir b,paisley king you will never walk alone love you LFC till i die, now go do the tapuppers (chelsea) on sunday.

  31. this is what fans need to be shouting about. now I’m going to say what if we gave him his job back after Roy Evans left. I’ll tell you we are coming back. it won’t be like the 80s . it won’t be like anything but it will be a glorious.

anyone notice but Kenny seems to be getting younger. whether We lose or draw the king is back doing what he is best at. being the manager at this special special club.

  32. Thanks a lot guys, I’m sure we all resonate in our respect and appreciation and gratitude towards the King.
A very special mention and thank you to Antoine who lets us all interact on this forum. I’m sure there’s a lot of work that goes behind the scene in keeping this up. And don’t forget the endless tweets and match & news updates. Thanks for filling our timelines Antoine. Let’s reciprocate with a shorty for EOTK?

  33. Bleeding ell you’re darn right mate..How could he? Excellent write up we are bouncing here in Thailand, Malayisa and Singapore at 4 amm in the morning until now!. 3-5-2.. What a formation Agger is damn good mover of the ball. was he a centrehalf/holding midfielder or a box to box player..Was Johnson a winger or a left back wow that formation really outstoked Stoke

  34. King K eat, $h%t and sleep red, He expect the same from his players, as we fans do. Football with 100% passion for the club and your fellow members of the LFC family. What most of us have missed for so long, both from managers and players at this club, is the kind of passion that his Excellence have. I think even if we got relegated, as many of us feared at some point this season, King K is the only manager we would forgive. With KK back as a manager, everyone will be reminded of why, so many of us fell in love with this club. We might no be champions again any soon, but what is most important to me is that all signs tells me that we returned to the Liverpool FC -way. And that is the most important of all!

You’ll never walk alone, ain’t just pretty words to be song, or written in the end of a mail. It’s to be taken very serious. Those few words tells you all you need to know about “our” club.

Be patience and soon you’ll realise that the nightmare years are over. We won’t return to years of dominating the football world, but we’ll reclaim that we are the best club in the world, no matter if we win a tittle or not.

  35. yes i like to some good writing about the truly legends and those who deserved to be the king,i wander if the people that appointed ROY HODGSON as of that time if they’ve been watching the new LFC and how they’re feeling also ROY himself i believe they will know that they were the that gave us the set back since the starting of the season till mr,FIX IT DE KING-took over well its shows the technicals and the clas of managers.

  36. Kaushal – u are a true RED. Long live Liverpool. There is a change in the air, a storm brewing, and the REDS all over the world are gathering. Make no mistake, we will will be Kings. Kenny is GOD.

  37. Yes, victory at home over Stoke is a sure sign of a wonderful improvement. I am ever so excited by this incredible win. It’s a resounding message to echo around the Premier League – we’re no longer afraid of teams like Stoke. King Kenny as worked his miracles!!!

  38. Fantastic Post m8. We will return under the guidance of His Highness.
    Long live the King.
    Long Liver Liverpool Football Club.

  39. I agree the energy encouraged by kenny is magical …

I would also like to point out that Torres was not focused and some players have said they felt he would go … this is the importance of moving people on who do not want to be at your club, no matter he is one of the best strikers in the world, if his heart is not with the club it can help to bring the energy down .. kenny helped to build that again as he is a bigger icon then torres, and now torres has moved on we can all feel the negative lift … Those teams that force a player to stay are taking a big risk which often has a negative effect on the whole club, especially if they are a big player.

The club feels lighter, more energy, more zip .. growth is awaiting us …

Big positive energy in, negative energy out and the ship is steadying …

lesson for us all here …

  40. Nice Kaushal.this article presents the King and Liverpool FC as we know it.And what every LFC fan thinks of and dreams of every day.Hopefully King can bring back the Glory days , even if its not day in day out but to restore us where we belong.A PL will do us a good and some trophies here and there.
    Thank you.

  41. Great peice… We in Barbados were ecstatic on Saurez’s debut goal, boy has great movment and touch. LFC is back, all thanks to the KING and the Liverpool way. I think Fergie’s face will be turning back to the red colour that we are more accustom to now that we are on the up after 6 months of agony, patience has paid off. “LONG REIGN THE KING”.

  42. Aye, thanks for awesome article. Kenny has brought us all (from all over the world) together ..big big smiles and happy days ahead. Hail the King!

  43. Yes couldn’t agree more about torres, he is no longer our player and we need to rise above this. The shirt burning and ongoing abuse is becoming a real put off. He gave us many good memories

  44. Koushal… pat yourself on the back mate! Great writing… Keep it up. Oh and you couldnt be more right about Antoine… Thank you Antoine. YNWA fellow Reds.
