Only a Liverpool supporter knows that special feeling. It’s been there throughout the history of this club. It was there in the days of Shankly and Paisley when Liverpool conquered football, it was there when Dalglish and Rush turned defences inside out and it was there to support the families of victims through the Heysel and Hillsborough disasters. In more recent times it was there when Gerrard Houllier won the treble in 2001 and of course it was there in Istanbul in 2005. We thought we’d lost it earlier this season but under Dalglish it’s definitely back.
It’s a feeling that’s almost indescribable. It fills you with such a sense of belief that you feel like anything is possible and at Liverpool it usually is. The hairs stand up on the back of your neck as you hear a chorus of ‘You’ll never walk alone’ and you feel a sense of togetherness and belonging that you just don’t get anywhere else.
That sense of belief, of never giving up is what has made this club famous. It’s why we have the reputation as the best supporters in the world. It’s the foundation that this club was built on and it’s why I, like many of you, love Liverpool so much.
That’s why on Valentines day I’m dedicating my love to Liverpool FC. Watch these videos and remind yourselves why this club means so much to you. Remember, even though this season hasn’t been easy don’t stop believing. Everyone seems to be giving up on fourth place already, but it’s not over to the fat lady sings. At Liverpool anything is possible.
