Battle No.1……West Ham vs Liverpool!

Posted by

In a previous article I had written how the Reds need to go to war and fight the enemy in eleven epic battles that will decide whether Liverpool will be playing Champions League, Europa League, or simply Premier League football come next season.

There are 33 points at stake, all of which are up for grabs and all of which are achievable by the Reds. The first battle theatre will be at East London more precisely at Upton Park, home of struggling West Ham United.

Let’s follow the Reds through the final home stretch and see, game by game, how many of the points at stake we will be able to obtain to reach our goal. They will all be hard fought matches, because each team we play against will have their own agenda, and also because it is always prestigious to beat Liverpool Football Club.

With Sunderland loosing at Everton, and Bolton ending the encounter with Newcastle in a draw, our 6th place remains intact. We need to get closer to Chelsea and Spurs in the hope that they suffer setbacks and drop points in the final part of the season.

Good Luck Reds!

  1. Well said Brotha Tonio ,

but lets us not forget the untempered , inexperienced at the level , individualistic egotistical antagonistic mismach thrown together under a Premier League unproven Manager at Man City .

They too remain within our reach & if Fulham can serve up some vengeance on behalf of that blood thirsty legendary Welsh Warrior Mark Hughes by way of taking a point we could see the pressure of their position start to take effect on them especially if that wily general Ferguson successfully leaves a mark on the fragile Chelski on Tuesday & opens up even more daylight between them .

They are more likely to fade in the final furlong than that battle hardened , been there , done it , bought & sold the t shirt Harry Redknapps Spurs .

At West Ham tomorrow , to their credit , we can expect an old fashioned British tear up , with both sides keeping the ball on the deck in a battle of the better footballing side .

With Royalty leading us in Kenny we can be assured that we are 100% up to the challenge & unapologetically go for the win .

If we do & Chelski get beat by Utd you can expect them , Spurs & City to feel the warmth of our breath on the back of their necks as we seek their demise in our selfish pursuit of Champions League Glory , yes Glory because you know our King will never be content for us to merely show up , he has every intention of bringing old Big Ears back to Anfield for a 6’th time at the end of next season to let the world once again know that no matter what the money men say or what our enemies in the media would like us to think , we are the biggest , most iconic club on the planet & we are second best to no one !

  2. Tonio, its a shame they can’t both lose but I don’t think the United / Chelsea game will decide the title but even if it did I would still prefere to peg back 3 points from Chelsea and worry about evening the score with United next season. while its numericaly possible 4th spot has to be the financial priority.

  3. I dont see how Chelski gaining a point helps Liverpool FC this season .

If Utd win the league its because they were a better side than us & they deserve to be ahead of us in our rivalry , steel sharpens steel & unless we want to become the poor relation we have to face up to the facts that it is a rivalry & if they win a League we will have to win two . There’s no point being childish or resentful , we are adults after all & have to face up to our responsibility to our own legacy .

To Hell with Chelski along with Spurs & City , they are blocking our immediate revival so its them or us & we cant afford charity .

If we are at war then we have to take out the obstacles in front of us & not be worrying about what is beyond us .

    Smarten up Soldier .

  4. Well I guess I was more looking at Man Utd loosing two that Chelsea getting one. The Londeners have 12 games to go to the end and there are other games where they will loose points in our favour….hopefully!

  5. I guess yer right Toni , a good result for em against UTD is bound to shatter thier fragile confidence already damaged by us & set them off on a losing streak against the lesser sides left to face .

  6. Guys. Mathematically it is all possible. Is it a climb? Bloody right it is. As I said in the article, it’s 33 points for the taking. We need to win as many points as possible and hope the two above us drop some. Their remaining games are harder than ours on paper and they have both proved to be beatable. Until the math give us hope, there is no harm in dreaming is there?

  7. With regards to the game with West Ham, wonder what Dalglish/Clarke will come up with regards to the game plan. Will we go for 4-4-2 or 3-5-1-1? Will Joe Cole be given a start after his refound form? Will Carroll be given a run out or will he be spared to come out guns blazing against Utd? This is a three points game, so I hope we are not conservative and that we field the best team possible with an aggressive game plan.

  8. Its mathematically possible to win the league but thats not even what you are saying .

You have resigned us to being Man Utd haters & not Liverpool supporters with yer pathetic comments .

Our first priority is to close the gap on those above us immediately .

This isnt a computer game , its a competition involving humans who develop habits & beliefs & winning & losing are two of those habits & beliefs .

Look at Arsenal , they win fuck all coz they are in the habit of winning fuck all & dont know how to break tha habit therefore nobody has faith in em .

You are looking at pie in tha sky , the sooner Chelsea , City & Spurs are destroyed tha sooner we start making a fight of it in tha top two & show Utd & the world the real Liverpool FC , not tha pathetic shadow of ourselves we have become this past 20 mediocre years

  9. Fred just because my considerations are not in line with your way of thinking does not make them pathetic.
You have your way of seeing things, I have mine. Many are expecting Utd to go to Stamford Bridge and trash Chelsea, but I have reason to believe that will not happen. Now if by any chance Chelsea put up a performance and beat Utd, then come on here and tell me that my wanting a draw was not a reasonable option Mr Wiseguy!
Arsenal, for your info, are the team amongst the top 6 that has, by far, spent less on players and even though some of those top six have spent millions like a running water tap, they’ve won nothing just the same! The thing is that Arsenal play the most entertaining football in the PL and that with the youngest average aged team in the top 6! Get your facts right Fred!

  10. I think yer confused about Clarkes role Tonio .

He is a quality coach known for putting on entertaining sessions the players enjoy & cleverly improving the defensive aspect of the team unit without em even knowing it .

He isnt a maverick or a rebel , he answers to Kenny & if Kenny says to Steve after training that he has read the scout reports on West Ham & thinks we should go with a certain formation & tactics then Clarke will go away & come back in a few hours to present Kenny with a choice of a few sessions designed for training those tactics in that formation .

Its a professional structure not a hap hazard kick about after work .

They have everything taken care of down to the finest detail & can probably even predict how many breaths our players will take during the game .

Clarke is an excellent addition to the coaching staff but make no mistake , its by Kenny Dalglish’s Sword we are living by .

  11. Your love for Arsenal Chelsea is remarkable & coming from a supposed Liverpool fan is kinda PATHETIC .

As for yer beloved Arsenal heres a genuine Liverpool supporters view on them …

“Scumbags like Arsend Wegner has ruined British football by destroying their youth system & buying in dirt cheap average teenagers from abroad at the expense of home grown players , he even bought in Ramsey & Walcott , only Wilshire has came through under him . Arsenal are cheapskate thieving scumbags raping the future of the British game & the sooner they are relegated the better , I hope Alex McLeish rips their throat out at Wembley on Sunday . Ireland & Scotland have stopped qualifying for tournaments & England are only qualifying & no more while Wales have lost hope all together .
    Its not right .”

  12. Well Fred! From a supposed Liverpool supporter who was one of the founder members of the Liverpool supporter’s club back in 1982 I think I might know a thing or two. I may admire other teams, but love? Now that’s pathetic. ;-)
The person that wrote that comment on Arsenal and Wenger is someone that like you probably drank too much beer before writing. That is really an example of stretched immagination pal! But you know what? Its not worth even discussing with someone that has your mentality.
Anyway, I respect your views and I am really not even bothered if you respect mine. Have a good day Fred!

  13. A touch of reality wouldn’t go amiss here. We will not win the title that is self-evident. The object is to pass the two or three teams ahead of us and that should be paramount! So United win it? So what. There is nothing we can do about that. We can be all the more determined to get the next three ( at least). The re-build is progressing and , apparently , progressing well. Let’s enjoy the remains of the season as best we can.

  14. Tempting fate there a bit Tonio, shades of Houllier’s ‘ten games from greatness’!
By the way, what is ‘loosing’?
Could you be losing your already tenuous grasp of your own language?

    1. Yes it’s either that or the frustration. You should know however, that it is not my native language……curious?
