Liverpool Football Club is planning a summer reshuffle which will see a substantial movement of players coming to and leaving from Anfield. This is the general feeling surrounding the Club and if Damian Comolli is visiting several football venues around Europe to watch game after game, it’s not because he loves to travel: it’s because a plan is in the making to give the squad a profound facelift.
In this article I do not plan either to mention any player presumably coming, or those that are rumored to leave. The idea here is for you to give us your feedback in an effort to create a squad with two quality players to cover each position. There has been debate after debate regarding the depth of the squad and Liverpool Football Club must once again inspire fear on their opponents whether this is a PL derby game with Everton, or a third round League Cup tie with Tranmere Rovers. The Reds need to have a squad with enough depth to prevent anyone from declaring that ‘LFC fielded a weakened side…..’, and this whether we are in Champions or Europa League football, or even if we are out of Europe and have to content ourselves with Premier League, FA and League Cup competition.
Liverpool’s future success must be built on this. This is the foundation on which to build another super era of success for the Club. A new stadium or refurbished Anfield, sponsorship deals, marketing plans and what have you will all be a bonus, but all this would not reap the right rewards unless the team is winning titles and trophies.
In the light of the above, send us your lists with two top quality players per position. You can choose players from the current squad, from our rising stars, or from what the transfer market is offering, especially players being linked with a move to Anfield. You need to contend with the home grown quota, and also with a realistic spending kitty between players going out and those coming in. Please do not include figures and computations. What we want from you is a list with two players per position, plain and simple. When all the comments have come through we will do the math and let you know what your thoughts and wishes add up to.
It’s time to let us know your wishes!
