188SPORT has launched a new initiative, encouraging Liverpool fans to vote on their all-time favourite game-changing moments.
‘Moments In Time’ is an online campaign which draws on how a specific moment, whether a 30-yard thunderbolt, an injury-time equaliser, a last-gasp tackle or a goal-keeping blunder, can change the course, and ultimately the outcome of a football match.
The initiative has collated some of the greatest game-changing moments from the club’s history. Will it be Stevie Gerrard’s goal in the Champions League final, 2005, which prompted the dramatic comeback from 3-0 down or David Fairclough’s vital third goal in the second leg of the European Cup quarter finals in March 1977, which sent Liverpool through on the way to win their first European Cup?
The online forum features exclusive content from Liverpool club legends and ambassadors, including Kenny Dalglish detailing his favourite ‘Moment In Time’ at the club; beating Everton to claim the 1986 League title: “One of the most important parts of a manager’s duty is to motivate the players at half-time. I told them: “We’ve been magnificent all season, there’s 45 minutes to go, let’s go and give it our lot.” It was not quite Churchill but the players responded.”
Terry Venables, former England manager and 188SPORT Ambassador, also commented on the initiative: “So often in a game of football there will be an instant that either impacts or changes the outcome of the match. ‘Moments In Time’ is a great way for fans to discuss these moments and we’re looking forward to seeing the suggestions that supporters come up with.”
The site is designed so football fans of all ages can join in the debate, simply by uploading their own moments or commenting on others. The campaign is completely free for fans to get involved with and a range of match tickets to see Liverpool in action are being given away as part of the initiative. Those who contribute to the site by uploading their favourite moments could also see their moment featured in the match day programme.
