Liverpool FC have confirmed the 6th capture of this exciting summer transfer window, just 24 hours before its closure, with the arrival of 20 year old Uruguayan international centre-back Sebastian ‘Luganito’ Coates (Co-at-es). The 6ft 6inch colossus arrives from Nacional for a reported Stg 7 million deal and has signed a long term contract on the same model adopted by the Reds with the other January and summer transfer acquisitions. The word is that Luis Suarez triggered this deal by speaking to the Liverpool management team about him and by giving the young lad an introduction which made him refuse advances from Man City and Atletico Madrid.

  1. i think we have done very good business from jan till now apart from buying carrol 35mill bcoz its not money that we paid to him the thing is that he does not have that quality to play for our club i was worried about downing but looking in first three games he looks a real deal and his pace is amaizing and after seeing coates arrive i m very happy that we should not be worried about our defence anymore bcoz we have got loads of option to choose from in every position i jst think if chelsea r interested in miereles then we should sell them only if they r ready to include sturridge in the deal like straight swap of players and then go and buy affellay from barca ask kuyt to convince the young lad to come here as he will get more game time and will be a top class player for us so in this way we will b very good in each position team line up

    REINA
    JOHN/KELLY CARRG/SKRTEL AGGR/COTES ENRIQUE/AURLIO

    GERRARD/ADAM LUCAS/HENDERSON
    AFELLAY DOWNING

    SUAREZ CARROL/STURRIDGE

RES:GERRARD, KUYT, ETC TOP 4 GUARANTEED

    1. man i agree with you in all.Andy Carroll wasn’t money well spent. He is not worth the money paid as par his display so far.

  2. Konchesky, £1.5 & Pacheco is at Atletico Madrid not Rayo Valecano

We’ve made strides with the wage bill too. Any insights?

  3. I don’t really know where the “Luganito” thing came from, I’ve seen it in almost every English article about Coates, but, although he is compared to Lugano, I’ve never heard him being called that here in Uruguay.
He’s usually referred to simply as “Seba”, sometimes he’s called “Jefecito” (little boss) or even just “Jefe” (boss).
Anyway, great signing, he’s a class player, great kid, hope he continues to grow in Liverpool.

  4. fair play to kenny, commolli & FSG they oobviosly didnt bring in anything near to what we all expected in terms of funds from player sales but have still done some great buisness. with the addition of coates we finnally have someone who might replace big sami. cant help myself getting excited when the 25 man squad is announced i dont think anyone else except maybe city have improved as much as we have on last season’s squad.

  5. I rather think that any proof of acceptability will remain until the final several weeks of the season. This is when tiredness takes its toll and the depth of players in various positions will have or have not its rewards.Of course by then we will have had the January 2012 window to do any “tinkering” that might be needed.Whatever , we will only truly know at the run in to the final few games.

  6. @Tonio do you think it possible that we might be getting one more signing in before the window is closed? With Coates in, is our interest in Cahill officially over?

    1. Nothing is official or secure. But with four solid CBs I doubt we will be going for Cahill. Still thought we’d go for a back up striker though. Kenny could use Kuyt for that role too and maybe they can work on getting someone in the January window. Still 12 hours to go to deadline so you never know what might happen.

      1. I was thinking along the same lines as well. I thought the Ngog deal was a sweetener for Cahill with some cash but with Coates we don’t need another CB. I’m really surprised that nobody has mentioned the lack of depth up front. If Carroll or God forbid, Suarez, pick up knock, we suddenly look very thin up front. We’ve only got Kuyt as a recognised striker left and his mostly played on the right hand side the last few seasons. Ngog would be next in line but he appears on his way out. With Pacheco back in Spain we start having to look at Michael Ngoo as the next option, if I’m not mistaken.
