Liverpool vs Aston Villa Preview

Liverpool host Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday hoping to put an end to a run of form that’s seen them lose their last three games. Under fire boss Kenny Dalglish will be hoping his side can get a vital three points against fellow strugglers Villa.

The last time the two faced each other at Villa Park earlier this season, Liverpool ran out comfortable 2-0 winners with goals from Martin Skrtel and Craig Bellamy. That day Liverpool were the superior team and deserving of their victory but in completely different circumstances now it’s difficult to call the match at Anfield tomorrow.

Liverpool this week announced that crucial Centre back Daniel Agger is getting closer to his return as well as fellow injured defenders Glen Johnson and Martin Kelly. But with an FA Cup semi Final against Everton in two weeks reds fans will be hoping all three can return in time and provide some much needed stability to a very shaky Liverpool side.

Villa haven’t had the best of seasons either, currently sat in 15th in the table and coming off the back of two straight defeats at the hands of Chelsea and Arsenal, Alex McLeish will be hoping his team can gain all three points at a stadium that can no longer be called a fortress.

But with both teams needing three points in this vital match from their perspectives; I feel that it could be a case of them cancelling each other out or Liverpool grabbing a slender victory. Either way I feel it will come down to who has the more influential striker, Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll for Liverpool or Darren Bent and Gabriel Agbonlahor for Villa.
