We need to be where we belong; UCL

Looking back to the past he (Roberto Martinez) would be only the second Spaniard (if he accepts the offer) to manage Liverpool FC. First it was Rafa Benitez and he ended up with 4 silverware and 2 UCL Finals (winner 2005 and runner-up 2007). Though he managed to win 55 percent of the matches played, the owners decided to sack him. In my opinion there are some good reasons Liverpool owners sacked him. One of the mistakes he made was selling Xabi to Real Madrid.

Though the sale made £30 million profit, we lost the best Midfielder in BPL. And then he jumped out of the frying pan into the fire buying the Liverpool flop Alberto Aquilani. His policy of “sell to buy” made him sack as the club’s debt rose higher than ever. In his final year Liverpool had to face the worst run in 22 years. I think that’s what happened to King Kenny who came up after Roy.

And here came the second Spaniard. We expect nothing but the best for the team. He might have a bad start with Wigan but we saw that he gave a remarkable try and defeated Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Liverpool to win the manager of the month (April). We just need to be where we belong; UEFA Champions League. That’s what Liverpool is made for, to win.

  1. Muncco, I disagree with some of what you say here. It wasn’t Rafa’s policy of “sell to buy” he had it forced on him by the owners.

I agree getting of Alonso was a mistake, but there maybe more to that than we know.

I also disgree about Aquilani. He was injured when he arrived and then get shipped out on loan by Cecil for some financial reason, I can’t remember the details now, I think delaying paying an installment on his transfer. I’m sure someone will out us straight on that. The few times he made an appearance you could see his class. A very clever player, great vision and touch. Don’t write him off without a fair shout.

    All the best

  2. Martinez is a very very good manager, he buys well and only sells to keep the club afloat. Taking away these restraints will see him emerge as the top young manager in the world.Given this he must be given the time, money and patience to acomplish this.He has a decent basis to build upon but we are fighting with Goliath, little money to spend and every other team to contend with trying to buy whats left of the scraps.Believe me within them scraps are the makings of champions but please give him the time to do his job. when things go wrong stick with him, when we get beat stick with him, when the media gloat, stick with him. He will come good.

  3. do the action immediately,do make quality signings.
not just talk “we need to be where we are belong bla bla bla”
then nothing hppen. other club already sign many quality players..us ?? we’ll go nowhere

  4. We got to stop all this crap about ‘where we belong’ ‘we deserve this and that’ it’s getting ridiculous, Liverpool fans are running around like headless chickens crying blue murder about every teeny tiny decision or LACK of a decision that seems to happen! The absolute SHITE that is spewing from the mouths of some fans is sad. The owners appear to be very level headed patient guys with, probably firstly, a desire to see their business investment pay off. That when translated into fans terms can only be success, it may happen, it may not, but screaming every fucking day of the week about EVERY-LITTLE-THING is not gonna bring success quicker OR likely to influence their thinking! If 99.9999% of the kooks out there that claim to know what’s best for LFC were running the club we would be history at this stage. So calm the fuck down everyone and let them get on with it, let them pick a manager and talk to whomever they want without the fans feeling the need to act like a psychotic teen girl at a One Direction concert all the time. It might be another 6 yrs before we win anything. Now wouldn’t that make a few of you shit your pants just thinking about it, it would appear that way!!
