I’m gutted to see Maxi leave. I was at Melwood yesterday and he was the only player (apart from Shelvey and Flanagan who were in passenger seats) who didn’t stop to sign stuff. I could tell he was in a bit of a mood then, as did my friends. The thing you said about 2002 and the young players etc.. is something that shouldn’t really be compared to now. Back then, we won the treble and then we made the changes we shouldn’t of made. Now, we’ve gone downhill and need to pick ourselves up and I think a change is desperately needed. Maxi & Kuyt, as good as they were for us, won’t be missed that much. If it was Gerrard going, then yeah, but I still think Gerrard has the quality to player for a good few more years as long as he stays injury free. The Euros proved how good he can still be, as did the Everton game were he banged in 3. I think that Rodgers is going to change us for the better now and I think getting rid of the players who don’t fit into his plans or players that aren’t happy should be gone now. I’m looking forward to the new season.
Maxi was always taking his career seriously and did very well whenever the past selfish coaches fielded him to play. Your good works in Liverpoolfc will follow you. I wish you and your family all the best in your future endeavours.
