Anderson Vital da Silva (Dede) – The Defensive Solution

Posted by
Dede

Dede is a twenty four year old Brazilian central defender. His currently playing for Vasco De Gama in Brazil and has been a presence in their first team since joining them in 2009, racking up nearly 150 appearance. The club is experiencing financial difficulties and will be forced to sell their major assets in the summer. Dede is certainly one of their highly rated players and will definitely be making a move to Europe this summer the question is will he be at Anfield next season.

With the retirement of Carragher, the expected departure of Martin Skrtel and the failure of Sebastian Coates to impress means Rodgers will be looking to strengthen the center of defence. Dede could be the player to fill the void left by Carragher and Skrtel as the right sided full back. Dede is very much a physical presence at 6ft9, imposing in the air, and great on his feet and technically gifted. He is projected to be a major player in Brazils team at the 2014 World Cup and Vasco De Gama president has already stated, ‘we will find it very difficult to hold on to Dede because the club needs the resources, and at some point it will happen – by the middle of the year’. The club has suggested that around £15million would be enough to tempt their hands, however I think this is slightly optimistic and a fee of around £12million should be enough.

The player seems to have sparked a tug of war between Manchester United and Liverpool with both very interested in the young Brazilian. Other European clubs such as Juventus and Benfica have also made enquires. The Brazilian contingent of Lucas and Coutinho as well as imminent first team opportunity at Anfield could be a major for Dede. Dede needs playing time in order to be part of the upcoming World Cup and a game time at Liverpool could be exactly what he needs.

  1. if we lose THREE first team central defenders, we will need more than that. i think andre wisdom will be able to be a more reliable 3rd string centreback/fullback…but we will need at least one more experienced defender if we don’t have carra OR skrtel

  2. Dede is a good solid player. Very cool under pressure and skilful too. He is one of the few Brazilian players who is being picked in their squad.
Definietly a good option. Could be expensive!
Brazilians usually need time to settle abroad. Coutinho learnt what lofe was living abraod before coming to LFC. Lucas didn’t have an easy ride.
I wouldn’t be unhappy with Dede on our books
