At only 21 years old, Eriksen has graduated from probably the most prestigious academies in world; racking up over 100 appearances for the Dutch powerhouse. The highly talented Dane has become an exciting fixture in both the Denmark and Ajax teams. Over the past few seasons Eriksen has been linked continuously with a move away from Amsterdam, but reluctance to become a bit part player at the biggest clubs has kept him at Ajax. The time would be just right for Ajax to cash in on their star player; a projected fee of around £15-20million would be required. Eriksen’s contract end in the summer of 2014 and it is almost definite he will move on in the summer.
The youngster has been linked with a host of top clubs including Barcelona, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United. Whoever wins the battle to sign Eriksen will have secured an amazing talent full of potential to be one of the best players in Europe.
As with most top players, the lack of Champions League football is a major drawback to a move to Anfield. On the other hand Liverpool is very much a team building on young talented players and if they are able to keep Suarez, the definite opportunity for first team football could draw Eriksen to Anfield.
Eriksen would bring a lot to Rodger’s squad, his speed, creativity, youth and versatility would deeply add to the squad. Eriksen starting off his career playing as a winger, his final ball is consistent, at Ajax he has converted into more of a midfielder becoming part of a midfield three similar to that at Liverpool. With the addition of the Dane the Liverpool midfield will become packed with youth, creativity and speed.
On the other hand I feel that currently the defence is certainly the main transfer priority with Carragher certainly retiring, Skrtel likely to leave and Coates just unable to get near the first team.
