Liverpool have received a boost in returning personnel of late and midfielder Joe Allen is the latest player who will be looking to give Brendan Rodgers a selection headache in the coming weeks.
The Reds started the Premier League campaign positively despite the absence of players like Allen and striker Luis Suarez, who has been a revelation since getting back in the side following suspension. Paddy Power currently have Suarez at 5/1 to be top goalscorer this season.
Suarez’s partnership with England forward Daniel Sturridge has been one of the talking points in the Premier League so far this term and the Anfield faithful will be hoping they can keep up their decent form together.
The strike duo are now set for a boost with the imminent return of Allen, who has been out of action since August after picking up a hamstring injury against Notts County in the Capital One Cup.
With the Welsh international coming back into the squad, both Suarez and Sturridge will have a player in the middle of the park capable of picking a pass and will provide further opportunities to add to their goal tallies, with Sturridge 15/2 to score the most goals this season in the latest Premier League best odds.
Although it won’t be easy for the former Swansea City star to get his name back in the starting XI, with Liverpool joint on 16 points with Arsenal at the top of the Premier League, the side are getting results without really playing their best football.
That can only be good news for the Merseyside outfit, who have lacked strength in depth in the past, something that has ultimately cost them Champions League football over the last few seasons.
Having players like Allen back, who can certainly do a job in the midfield and push players currently in the starting line-up, will again give a confident Liverpool side another lift going forward.
