Another one for the future!

The Daily Mirror newspaper have today linked Kop Boss Brendan Rodgers with a possible transfer move for Fabio Sturgeon (20) He currently plays for Belenenses football Club in Portugal.

The talented young player joined up with the first team when he was just 17 and has gone on to make 24 appearances. He is now an established member of the side.

Although he was born in Portugal, Fabio has a English father and therefore is eligible to play for England. If he harbours hopes of representing England, a move to the Premier League could only help his chances of being noticed.

Liverpool have scouted Sturgeon several times and if the rumours are true, the Reds may make a bid of £2.4 million for him. Benfica are also said to be keen on Fabio!

If he signs for the Reds, he will join a impressive group of young players. If they all reach their potential, Liverpool will have some side in the next couple of seasons.

The Reds supporters however, will despair. They will see once again one ‘signed for the future’ when they expect the Club to sign ready made stars, who can hit the ground running and assist the side in securing a top 4 finish. The Club is currently sitting in 11th place in the Premier League. It has been a fall from grace, after very nearly winning the League last season!

The defence needs time and attention to stop the goals flowing in at such an alarming rate. The Manager has decent enough players to chose from , but the system is clearly not working. This should be the number one priority given the sides current form and League position.
Rodgers also needs to find a way to accommodate Mario Balotelli in the starting 11. If not, then he should be sold in January and a replacement can then be sought!
The only blessing this season, has been the form of the other Clubs looking towards a top 4 finish in May. This gives the side a chance to secure Champions League football, but only if they come flying out of the blocks when the international break is over!
