The powerhouse French centre-back has been out injured, but hopes to return soon…

Our giant French centre-back Mamadou Sakho reckons he’ll reach his best level with Liverpool once he fully masters English, and the Scouse accent, he told the official Liverpool website.

“I am still in my learning phase,” the 24-year-old began.

“Little by little I’ll start to open up even more because when you don’t speak a language well enough, it’s difficult to show your character; it’s difficult to communicate.

“But it will come, little by little. I’ve improved my English. I understand a lot better, especially the local Scouse accent. I’m still working.”

Due to a thigh strain, Sakho hasn’t played for Liverpool since September 23, and his absence has combined with a terrible run of defensive Reds performances.

He could be fit and available again after the international break however, and most fans would be happy to see him go straight back into the team.

Sakho prides himself on his immense physicality, which makes him practically unbeatable in the air.

He looks a little awkward on the ball, but his pass completion ratio is actually very high.

His potential is huge, and he remains the youngest ever captain of PSG, having skippered them at the age of 17 back in 2007…
