English attacker rates battling German…

Summer signing Adam Lallana reckons his new teammate Emre Can, signed from Bayer Leverkusen for £12m, is showing huge potential.

The young German hasn’t started our past two matches, but was arguably the best Liverpool player on the pitch against Chelsea before the international break, scoring a long range deflected goal.

“I think Emre showed in the Chelsea game that one of his big qualities is driving forward with the ball and shooting,” Lallana said during the latest episode of #LFCWORLD, the official website reported.

“I remember in pre-season, when I was injured, I was out there and I was really impressed with him. He’s still a lot younger than everyone probably thinks as well.

“He’s a strong player, a good tackler, he’s got a great engine. He can play a few positions as well, so he’s going to be a great player for Liverpool moving forward.”

Lallana’s description of the 20-year-old seems pretty accurate. For a player so young his physical presence is exceptional, and is only likely to improve as he fills out and matures.

While Can prides himself on his defensive combative presence in the middle, he proved versus the Blues that he can offer the team an offensive contribution too.

If Can reaches his potential, he could realistically be a mainstay of the Liverpool side and the engine of the midfield for a number of years to come.
