Spanish stopper targeted again following yet another blunder…

Liverpool, along with our Premier League rivals Arsenal, have been linked in the Express with a £4m bid for legendary Spanish stopper Iker Casillas.

Current Reds no.1 Simon Mignolet has lost the support of nearly all inside Anfield following yet another mistake; this time away to Ludogorets in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

As a result, we’re likely to be linked with a number of goalkeepers in the coming weeks, and Casillas is the first.

The 33-year-old, for the first time in 18 months, is Real Madrid’s first-choice La Liga keeper this term, having previously been resigned to the bench under Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti last term.

Now, Ancelotti is using Casillas more often, but still benched him for Real’s Champions League victory over Basel midweek in favour of summer signing Keylor Navas.

Although he’s nowhere near his world-class best, acquiring Casillas for £4m seems like a complete no-brainer, although whether Real would really be willing to sell for such a fee – especially in January – is another matter.
