Captain climbs historic Premier League goalscoring table to 16th…

Our skipper’s side-foot finish last night which helped us beat Leicester City at the King Power Stadium sees him go above Arsenal legend Ian Wright in the all-time Premier League goalscoring charts.

The goal was Gerrard’s 114th top flight effort of his 16 year Liverpool career, beating the 113 Wright tallied with Arsenal and West Ham.

Gerrard is now 16th in the all-time Premier League goalscorer list, and has the likes of Dwight Yorke, Jermain Defoe and Nicolas Anelka – on 125 – in his sights.

The effort was actually only the 2nd of Gerrard’s past 19 goals which came from open play, which indicates the deeper role he’s played as he’s grown older, but also his brilliance from the penalty spot.

Efforts from Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson helped us fight from 1-0 down to beat the bottom-placed side, and make it two wins from two.

We next face Sunderland at home at the weekend, hoping to build on our improved form.
