Young Spaniard prepared to fight…

Young Spanish playmaker Suso wants to remain a Liverpool player despite a lack of first-team opportunities and the interest of Italian giants AC Milan, reports the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old has only been given one substitute appearance in the League Cup so far this term despite a promising pre-season, although injuries have also played a part in his lack of playing time.

However, Jaime Serra, Suso’s agent, reckons his client still thinks he can make a successful career on Merseyside.

“Suso is a Liverpool player and his initial idea is to continue at Liverpool, if there is a team interested they should speak with the Reds and have to come to an agreement with them,” he began.

“Milan? We do not refuse any opportunity and will be a pleasure to play for Milan but must first reach an agreement with Liverpool because his main choice is to stay where it is.

“If Milan have made offers? I do not know, to me certainly not, you should talk with the leadership of Liverpool.

“Milan asked me the situation of the player, and I explained what are his qualities. But Suso has a contract with Liverpool until 2015 and in January can sign where he wants.’

When Brendan Rodgers first joined Liverpool he clearly rated Suso very highly, starting him ahead of £20m Stewart Downing regularly. In 2012/13 the Spaniard made 14 Premier League starts, and 20 in all competitions, and did relatively well out on loan at Almeria last season, too.

It seems like Rodgers is no longer a fan however, and despite the agent’s comments, don’t be surprised if Suso leaves the club either in January or at the end of the season.

It’s a shame, as he’s clearly talented, but perhaps doesn’t have the discipline needed to consistently contribute right now.
