Bizarre transfer rumour circles the internet. Could the Belgian winger possibly move across Merseyside…?
January is fast approaching, and considering our horrible start to the season, we’re bound to be linked with a number of players in the coming weeks…
However, few expected us to be genuinely associated with a transfer move for an Everton star.
The Daily Express, followed by many other national publications, reckon that we’re one of the clubs interested in Belgian flyer Kevin Mirallas.
The rumour is based on quotes attributed to the 27-year-old in which he intimates that he’ll leave Goodison Park if they don’t qualify for the Champions League.
“I’ve made no secret of the fact that I want to play in the Champions League. Ideally I will do so with Everton,” he said.
“But if that doesn’t appear possible we will have to look at the situation.”
While Everton’s chances of Champions League qualification are pretty slim, ours are sadly by no means a certainty either.
Mirallas is a quality player, with pace, trickery and a rasping shot – but if they were forced to sell, Everton would surely do everything in their power to make sure he didn’t join their biggest rivals.
