Brendan Rodgers insists he’s the best man for the job

The manager knows nobody could do any better, do you agree?

Brendan Rodgers has maintained that he’s determined to turn things round at Anfield, despite the blow of European elimination in midweek.

The draw with Basel was hard to take, especially with so many late chances missed, but Rodgers doesn’t think there’s anyone out there who could do a better job.

“I think the message from me is clear,” the FIFA website quote the boss as saying. “I don’t think there would be anyone better to do the job here. Seven months ago we nearly won the title unexpectedly, I had time to work with the players and we took them beyond where the club has been in a long time.”

Last season’s amazing performances have given Rodgers a lot of credit with Liverpool fans, and you won’t find many calling for his sacking. However the media sharks are circling closer as results continue to disappoint, and the most recent rumours have linked Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone with a move to Anfield.

It’s hard to disagree with Rodgers that he’s the right man for the job. The work he did with the players last year was amazing, and won’t be forgotten by those standing on the Kop anytime soon.

We just hope that the media pressure on the former Swansea boss won’t affect him or the team. They are far below the standard expected of them, but it would only take a few wins to turn things round again.
