Liverpool Must Break The Bank For Gerrard’s Replacement
Liverpool supporters received a double whammy on New Year’s Day after letting a two goal lead slip at Anfield against the Premiership’s bottom club Leicester City to earn only a draw before news later in the evening circulated that Steven Gerrard would leave the club in the summer to continue his playing career overseas.
The result against Leicester was a kick in the teeth but the news regarding Gerrard’s future was like a knock-out blow, a death in the family.
Everybody knew his career would end at Anfield someday but like a family bereavement you can’t prepare yourself for it actually happening.
Most Liverpool supporters thought he would end his playing days at Liverpool and it is difficult to accept that he will play for another team in the future.
The announcement stops the constant speculation regarding Gerrard’s future and gives the club time to find a replacement and they have to learn from last summer’s mistake when they didn’t pay big money for replacing Luis Suarez.
Like Suarez, Gerrard is irreplaceable but they have to try their best to find a world class replacement and that means paying big money and I would like them to make an offer to Roma for Radja Nainggolan that they can’t refuse because I think he would be the ideal player for Liverpool.
The Roma midfielder is experienced and can do everything you want from a midfielder. He loves a tackle, he has a great engine and can play any kind of pass and most importantly he plays with his heart.
Let’s see what Liverpool do now but hopefully they do the right thing after not replacing Suarez.
