Could captain make an emotional return in a year’s time…?
As soon as Liverpool and Steven Gerrard announced to the world yesterday that they would be parting ways at the end of the season, the club was making plans into loaning him back come January 2016, reports the Telegraph.
The 34-year-old has decided against extending his current contract which expires at the end of the season, and he’s expected to sign a permanent deal with an MLS franchise, with LA Galaxy the heavy favourites to secure his signature.
The American season is about to get underway now, and Gerrard will be ready for the second half of it once his Premier League duties with us are however…
The MLS campaign will be over by Christmas, however; meaning Gerrard could appreciate the chance to maintain fitness by training with, and possibly representing Liverpool again – much like Thierry Henry did with Arsenal in previous seasons.
If we want to sign him back on loan though, should we not have just done more to keep him at the club full stop…?
