Jordan Henderson is desperate to play for Liverpool at Wembley again, and enjoy more success…

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is aiming to lead the team back to Wembley this season, as he and his teammates prepare for their first FA Cup match of the season, against AFC Wimbledon.

As Liverpool’s official website explains, the midfielder has been to Wembley with the Reds on three occasions, but hasn’t been to the famous stadium with his club side since his debut season in 2011-12.

That year, Liverpool won the League Cup by beating Cardiff City on penalties, and an FA Cup semi-final against local rivals Everton, but we missed out in the final against Chelsea.

“In my first year here, we won the Carling Cup, which was brilliant,” Henderson told reporters. “Then we got to the final of the FA Cup by beating Everton at Wembley but we lost to Chelsea, which was hard to take.

“I’ve experienced it before and it’s amazing to get to the semi-finals or the finals and experience playing at Wembley in front of the fans. It’s brilliant. I think it’s one of the best days of my career so far, winning my first trophy for Liverpool. So hopefully we can get a few more.

“It’s a massive cup competition that everybody wants to win and I think that goes for any trophy really. Any competition that you are in, you want to win every game and be at the end and win in the final.”

The 24-year-old also explained why success in 2015 would be particularly fitting, as fellow midfielder and club captain Steven Gerrard prepares to leave the club.

He said: “It would be amazing to win a trophy, not only for us as a team – because I think we need something like that – but for him personally because he deserves something like that for how good he’s been over so many years for Liverpool.”
