Tabloid newspaper links Raheem Sterling with Real Madrid again, as contract saga rumbles on

Raheem Sterling has been regularly linked with a move to the European Champions in recent months…

The Daily Star are reporting that Real Madrid are plotting a fresh raid for Liverpool starlet Raheem Sterling, but will not make their move until the summer transfer window.

The ‘exclusive’ story claims that Madrid will almost double Liverpool’s wage offer to snatch the 20-year-old starlet in a £35m deal. The England international would supposedly earn in excess of a £120,000-a week.

According to the source, Sterling’s representatives have already knocked back a deal from the Reds which could have earned the front-man £70,000-a-week, and the negotiations are continuing to rumble on.

Madrid accept that a transfer won’t be possible in the current window, but are optimistic about securing a deal at the end of the season – with their hopes boosted by the imminent departure of Steven Gerrard.

The club captain has been a father figure to Sterling, and insiders fear his departure could have serious implications throughout the squad. Our potential absence from the Champions League is another issue for Sterling, who remains undecided on his long-term future.
