The England striker played excellently from the bench against West Ham United at the weekend, scoring a superb finish from Coutinho’s through ball after an intelligent run off the ball, but given his repeated setbacks this season, it’s understandable for fans to be cautious.

However, Sturridge is totally involved in training now, and looks to have had no adverse reaction to sprint interval work.

The Reds star posted the below image to Instagram, boasting that he’d comprehensively defeated 5-1 Jordon Ibe in their races.

Ibe is no slouch, so Sturridge would have to have gone all out to beat him – which bodes well for the remainder of the season.

With a fit Sturridge, Liverpool can dream of pushing up the table.
