New contract for Jordon Ibe…

Rumours are rife that Liverpool have been working tirelessly to tie Jordon Ibe down to a long-term contract, so as to commit his footballing future to Anfield, reports the Telegraph.

While we’re still trying to get Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson to sign new deals, it appears that 19-year-old Ibe’s negotiations have gone smoothly – and an announcement can be expected shortly.

The winger spent the first half of the season on loan at Derby County, and he thrived in the Championship under the tutelage of Steve McClaren – bagging five goals and earning a recall to Liverpool.

Ibe’s reintroduction at Anfield has been so electrifying, it’s felt like a new January signing. Playing in an unnatural wing-back role on the right – the teenager won the Merseyside derby’s Man of the Match award, and followed it up with a superb showing at home to Tottenham, too.

He’s expected to start against Besiktas tonight, and will no doubt be geed up, as he’s about to sign the first real bumper contract of his blossoming career.
